The Crowntail Betta gets its name from the spiky rays on its fins that stick out beyond the webbing, making it look like a crown.
2. Created by breeders
This variety was selectively bred by fish breeders rather than naturally occurring in the wild.
3. Origin in Indonesia ๐ฎ๐ฉ
The Crowntail Betta was first developed in Indonesia around 1997 by breeder Achmad Yusuf.
4. Very territorial โ๏ธ
Like other bettas, male Crowntails are highly aggressive toward other male bettas, which is why they are called fighting fish.
5. Can breathe air ๐ฌ๏ธ
They have a special organ called a labyrinth organ, allowing them to breathe oxygen from the air as well as from water.

Crowntails can have different crown styles such as single ray, double ray, or cross ray, which change how dramatic the spikes look.
