SUPER Typhoon RAGASA UPDATE!!!!

The Observatory will issue the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 at 9:40 p.m. tonight.(Monday)

Local weather is expected to deteriorate rapidly later tomorrow (23 September). The Observatory will consider issuing the Gale or Storm Signal, No. 8 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. tomorrow. The weather will be persistently adverse on Wednesday (24 September).

TYPHOON TAPAH UPDATE‼️

Locally, gale force winds are still affecting many places, and winds offshore and on high ground are reaching storm force. Rainbands of Tapah will continue to bring heavy squally showers to the Pearl River Estuary at first today. Tapah will make landfall near Taishan, Guangdong shortly and then move inland Guangdong and depart from Hong Kong gradually. The Gale or Storm Signal, No. 8 will remain in force at least until 11 a.m. today. Depending on the degree of weakening of local winds, the Observatory will then assess the time of issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3.

Seas are very rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. Under the combined effect of spring tide and storm surge, the water level over the coast of western Hong Kong will rise higher than normal this morning, flooding may occur over parts of the low-lying areas. Members of the public should take necessary precautions.

TROPICAL CYCLONE TAPAH UPDATE!

According to the present forecast, Tapah will continue to edge closer to the coast of western Guangdong. Local winds will further strengthen. The Observatory will issue the Gale or Storm Signal, No. 8 at 9:20 p.m. tonight. Tapah is expected to skirt within 200 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong around sunrise tomorrow morning. It will then make landfall over western Guangdong. The Gale or Storm Signal, No. 8 will remain in force at least until 11 a.m. tomorrow. Members of the public please pay close attention to the latest weather information from the Observatory and complete all precautionary measures as soon as possible.

Locally, there will be squally heavy showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow. Seas will be very rough with swells. Members of the public are advised to stay away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports. Under the influence of storm surge, flooding may occur over parts of the low-lying coastal areas tomorrow morning.

Knife attack in Tuen Mun, injuring one man

A man was injured in a Tuen Mun shopping mall on Friday evening after being attacked with a knife. The man is a mobile shop owner.

The suspect fled the scene. After the accident, the victim remained conscious and laid on the floor. His shop was smashed.

Police received a report at about 6 p.m. on Friday. Sources say the victim is 30-year-old, who runs a mobile phone shop in the mall.

It is believed the owner had got into a fight with the suspect the previous day.
