In 2008, Paul McCartney received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Yale University in the United States.

Yale President Richard Levin praised the music icon for helping shape a generation through rock and rhythm and blues. A band performed the classic song “Hey Jude” as Sir Paul walked on stage to accept the honor.
