PAZ-COJUANGCO ENDS 12-YEAR ASIAN GAMES ARCHERY MEDAL DROUGHT 🏹🥈
Amaya Paz-Cojuangco delivers a historic silver medal for the Philippines at the 2026 Asian Games, ending the country’s 12-year medal drought in archery.
The veteran Filipina archer defeated Iran’s Bita Asheghzadeh Oskouei in the quarterfinals before edging South Korea’s Park Jungyoon, 142-141, to become the first Filipino archer to reach an Asian Games gold medal match. She eventually fell to Indonesia’s Nurisa Dian Ashrifah, 139-137, in the final.
Her breakthrough comes less than a year after the Philippine Sports Commission and World Archery Philippines brought in South Korean Olympic coaches Ryu Su Jeng and Hong Sung Chil to strengthen the national program.
