The Department of Tourism (DOT) advises all tourists and tourism-related establishments in coastal areas to exercise extreme caution following Tsunami Information No. 2 issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) today, 30 July 2025.
Based on PHIVOLCS advisory, minor tsunami waves of less than one (1) meter may affect several coastal areas fronting the Pacific Ocean, with the first waves expected between 1:20 PM and 2:40 PM today.
The coastal town of Baler, Aurora was also hit by a 4.0 magnitude tremor, according to PHIVOLCS Earthquake Information No. 2 issued on the same day at 10:41AM.
In view of this official announcements from PHIVOLCS, the DOT strongly advises against visiting beaches, engaging in coastal activities, or traveling to low-lying coastal destinations in the affected provinces until the advisory is lifted.
Tourists and tourism stakeholders are strongly advised to stay away from beaches and coastal areas in the following provinces until further notice:
๐๐๐๐ผ๐ป: Batanes Group of Islands, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes
๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐: Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte
๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ผ: Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, and Davao del Sur
According to the PHIVOLCS advisory, residents and tourists in shoreline communities are advised to move farther inland as a precaution. Furthermore, owners of boats in harbors, estuaries or shallow coastal water of the above-mentioned provinces should secure their boats and move away from the waterfront. Boats already at sea during this period should stay offshore in deep waters until further advised.
The DOT, through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Communications Team (DDRMCom) and Regional Offices is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with PHIVOLCS, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and local government units.
The Department urges the public regularly check updates from reliable sources, including concerned national government agencies, and follow the instructions of their local government units amid the warning.
