For weeks, workers at a local store noticed something odd. Crackers, chips, and snacks kept disappearing, always from the bottom shelf. It didn’t make sense. No one ever bent down to grab them, and they couldn’t remember ringing up those sales. When they finally checked the cameras, the mystery was revealed.
A tiny chihuahua was slipping in and out. He was so small his body never showed above the counter, which is why no one had noticed him before. Determined to catch him in the act, the staff put a bell on the door and waited. Soon enough, the chihuahua trotted in, grabbed a snack, and slipped back out. This time, they followed.
What they found explained everything. The dog wasn’t stealing for himself, he was bringing the food to his homeless owner outside, a man who hadn’t been able to move for weeks because of an infected leg.The thefts had started exactly two weeks earlier, the same time the man’s condition worsened.
Instead of getting upset, the store owner grabbed more snacks and shared the story online. The post went viral, a GoFundMe was launched, and the man is now scheduled for surgery, fully paid for by donations.
As for the little chihuahua, he’s finally retired from his life of crime.
