Nakikiisa ang South Lamp, opisyal na pahayagang pampaaralan ng Senior High School ng Southland College, sa pagtutol sa katiwalian at pang-aabuso sa kapangyarihan. Kasabay ng paggunita sa anibersaryo ng Batas Militar noong Setyembre 21, 1972, mariin naming pinapaalala na ang paninindigan laban sa katiwalian ay hindi lamang obligasyon—ito ay tungkulin ng bawat mamamayan.

Ang katiwalian ay sumisira sa tiwala, kumakain sa pondo ng bayan, at humahadlang sa kinabukasan ng kabataan. Hindi ito dapat manatiling lihim o tahimik na pinapasan ng sambayanan. Ang pagbabago ay nagsisimula sa bawat tinig na nagtataguyod ng katotohanan.

Sa mga mag-aaral, g**o, at mamamayan: ito na ang panahon upang manindigan, magkaisa, at makibaka. Ang laban para sa katarungan at kinabukasan ay nasa ating mga kamay.

Earlier today, the Senior High School strands ABM 11, ABM 12, and HUMSS 12 of Southland College successfully held their Research Title Proposal Defense at the Audio-Visual Hall.

The event highlighted the students’ commitment to academic excellence and served as proof of the institution’s mission to develop globally competitive, values-driven, and research-oriented learners.

The Southland College Folk Dance Team proudly clinched the Back-to-Back Championship in Interschool Philippine Folk Dance Competition with their captivating performance of Sublî Folk dance from Bauan, Batangas, held today, September 12, 2025 at the KCenter as part of the Tourism Week Celebration.

With vibrant costumes and heartfelt movements, the Southland performers embodied the spirit of Sublî a ceremonial dance honoring the Holy Cross through graceful steps, rhythmic beats, and powerful expressions of faith. Their outstanding presentation solidified their reputation as one of the strongest cultural performers in the region.

Behind the captivating performance were the efforts of Performers from Busilak Dance Theater Company whose teamwork and determination stood out throughout the competition. Guided by Eugene Mark P. Carbonell their number became a meaningful expression of heritage, devotion, and excellence.

The event ended with a joint performance from all groups, reminding everyone of the unity and diversity of Filipino heritage.

Southland College proudly celebrates the remarkable participation of Almera Aisha S. Labiana in the first-ever Rolling Tour Guiding Competition with the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” where she gracefully showcased her passion and storytelling skills. Out of nine competing schools, Labiana brought honor to the institution by earning a consolation prize, a testament to her dedication and talent.

Behind her success stands her ever-supportive coach, Mrs. Marisol Gentile, whose guidance and encouragement fueled the journey. Their teamwork highlighted not just the pursuit of recognition but the deeper value of learning and experience gained along the way.

This achievement marks another proud moment for Southland College, proving that every effort, whether crowned with a prize or not, is still a win worth celebrating.

𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒐 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑻𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒎 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏

As part of the City Tourism Week Celebration with the theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation,” the City Tourism Office held a Quiz Competition featuring 13 participating schools across the city. Representing the Senior High School Department, Ms. Illana Monica P. Mangao, a Grade 12 STEM learner, proudly earned a place in the Top 10 finalists, bringing honor to the school.

Guided by her coach, Mrs. Marisol Gentile, Mangao showcased her knowledge, confidence, and school spirit throughout the competition. The entire school community commends her dedication and achievement, a true inspiration to her fellow learners.

The deadliest flood is not water—it’s corruption devouring the people’s survival.

From the murky floodwaters rises the real monster—not the storm, but greed. While ordinary Filipinos gasp for air and cling to survival, officials grow fat, clutching bags of stolen money meant for flood control.

Every unbuilt d**e, broken drainage, and stolen peso feeds the beast. Citizens drown, not only in floodwater, but in the betrayal of leaders who turn disaster into profit.

If corruption is not stopped, the people will drown—not in water, but in injustice.

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐟 𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐒𝐂𝐄𝐀 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 45

The energy of sports, culture, and unity filled the air as the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) officially opened its 45th season. Southland College proudly participated in the festivities, with its President, Dr. Juan Antonio Z. Villaluz, who also serves as NOPSSCEA President, leading the delegation alongside faculty members.

The opening ceremony was a vibrant celebration of passion and pride, highlighting the collective commitment of member schools to the holistic development of their learners. Bringing together private institutions from across Negros Occidental, NOPSSCEA once again provided a platform not only for friendly competition but also for cultural exchange and shared values.

For Southland College, the event was more than a showcase of skills—it was a testament to its spirit of excellence, camaraderie, and empowerment.

The highlight of the event was the stirring performance of the Busilak Dance Theater Company in an Excerpts Hagbas Oratorio entitled “Hagbas sang Espading” composed by Sir Ismael "Maeng" Java and choreograped by Mr. John Mark M. Alpay. The presentation told the story of the Sakada farmers, an artistic portrayal of struggle, resilience, and faith. Through this performance, Southland College proved that it does not only shine in sports but also carries a powerful voice in culture and the arts, embodying values of perseverance, determination, and empowerment.

Southland College continues to embody its values of empowerment and determination, inspiring learners to excel in every field they pursue.
