𝐒𝐂 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐅𝐎𝐓

Proudly representing the Division of Kabankalan City, Kyle Marick Depalubos of Southland College delivered an impressive performance during the Regionals Festival of Talents. Taking place at the National University-Bacolod, the event from April 12 to 13 gathered 21 talented speakers across Region VI for an Impromptu Speaking Contest.

Even without a ranking, Depalubos’s participation in the competition highlighted his passion and commitment to growth. His strong motivation was fueled from the support of his coach, Danellen Iligan.

𝐅𝐢𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐅𝐮𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐏.𝐄. 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐩

Bright colors and booming music filled the Southland College Trapezium as this year’s P.E. Culmination Day took place. Highlighting different dances from around the world, students of the Basic Education Department showed the importance of being physically active.

Team Turquoise from the Elementary Department took first place with their graceful, Philippine-inspired performance. The Grade 8 students captivated the crowd with a vibrant Brazilian dance, outshining their JHS peers. Meanwhile, the Grade 12 students from SHS brought the energy of Africa to the stage, earning the top spot with their performance.

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐮 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

Kyle Marick Depalubos of Southland College bagged the championship title at this year’s Division Festival of Talents: Speak Up! (Impromptu Speaking Contest). Competing against other public and private schools contestants of the division, Depalubos emerged victorious for the secondary level, and is set to represent the Division of Kabankalan City in the upcoming regionals.

The said event took place at the Division Conference Hall, last March 13, 2025. Depalubos’ performance was supported by his coach, Danellen Iligan.

Southland College proudly emerged as Champion in the Elementary Category and secured Second place in the Secondary Category. This is a testament to their dedication, passion, and hard work.

𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓢𝓸𝓾𝓽𝓱: 𝓐 𝓓𝓪𝔂 𝓸𝓯 𝓛𝓸𝓿𝓮, 𝓕𝓾𝓷, 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓕𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓹

On the sunny afternoon of February 14, Southland College celebrated a day of love and friendship in a Valentine’s Day program named: “Love in the South”. Spearheaded by the SSG officers, the event took place at the SC Trapezium, where everyone gathered to spend the day with their friends and loved ones. The event created a warm atmosphere, through various activities such as, Wedding Booth, Jail Booth, Romantic Movie Spoof, Umamin Messages, and the Freedom Wall.

A highlight of the celebration was the Love Market, where students set up booths to sell a variety of hand-crafted goods, and treats. The Love Market gave students a unique way to share their creativity, and spread love to their peers.

Sending gifts, spending time together, and expressing gratitude are all ways to convey love and friendship, as seen throughout the event. Thus, it was a fun-filled day to show that Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate all types of love— whether it’s romantic or platonic.

The Senior High School swimmers at the Sportsfest 2024 saw the Griffin Guardians making waves at Zaycoland Resort and Hotel on February 6.

The Griffin Guardians showcased their swimming prowess, with several athletes delivering outstanding performances:

Ryan Henry Enriquez swept eight gold medals in the 100m individual medley, 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 25m breaststroke, 4x25 medley relay, and 4x25 freestyle relay.

Zoe Robles claimed five gold medals in the 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke, and 25m breaststroke.

Linda Veronica Malsi earned a set of silver medals in the 25m freestyle, 25m backstroke, 25m butterfly, and 50m freestyle, along with a bronze medal in 25m breaststroke.

Irvin Justin Felicia secured three golds in the 50m freestyle, 4x25 medley relay, and 4x25 freestyle relay.

Christian John Genova took home three golds in the 25m backstroke, 4x25 medley relay, and 4x25 freestyle relay, along with two silvers in the 25m freestyle and 50m freestyle.

Bill Andre Seguiro captured three golds in the 25m freestyle, 4x25 medley relay, and 4x25 freestyle relay.

While the Griffin Guardians led the medal tally, competitors from other teams also made their mark:

Lexi Skye Villan of Fenrir’s Fury claimed gold in the 50m backstroke, along with bronze medals in the 50m freestyle, 25m backstroke, and 25m freestyle.

Hannah Robles of the Ethereal Centaurs delivered a stellar performance, sweeping five gold medals in the 50m freestyle, 25m backstroke, 25m butterfly, and 25m freestyle, along with a silver medal in 25m breaststroke.

The stage is set for a showdown as Griffin Guardians and Fenrir's Fury battle for the Women's Singles Table Tennis championship. After a fierce contest, the Fenrir's Fury clinched the title with a 2-0 set score, while the Griffin Guardians finished 2nd place.

The gripping match between the Griffin Guardians and Fenrir's Fury went all-out as energy filled the room during its last championship game of Table Tennis Men’s Singles category.

As the game ended, Fenrir's Fury secured the first win with a score of 2-1, but the Griffin Guardians held a twice-to-beat advantage, setting the stage for another intense showdown.

In the next game, both teams once again faced an intense battle. A 2-0 set score propelled the Griffins to a decisive victory.

In a thrilling battle of the paddles, Fenrir's Fury secured and claimed the title against Griffin Guardians in the Mixed Doubles category of Table Tennis. With precise movement and reflexes, Fenrirs' dominated the opposing team, scoring 2-0.

Griffin Guardians emerged as the champions of this year’s Sportsfest Men’s Volleyball after defeating Ethereal Centaur in straight sets, 25-19 and 25-19. With strong blocks and precise attacks, Griffin controlled the net and maintained their momentum throughout the match, securing a well-earned victory.
