Panique Makes Her Move, Secures Chess Silver at Municipal Meet 2026

KALIBO, AKLAN — Wadeford School’s Athena Sofia Leigh U. Panique, a Grade 6 learner, secured second place in Board 1 of the Girls Elementary Chess competition during the Municipal Meet 2026 on August 22 at Kalibo Pilot Elementary School.

Panique displayed focus, patience, and strategic thinking throughout the tournament, earning the silver medal against fellow elementary chess players from across the municipality.

Her podium finish added another achievement to Wadeford School’s growing list of accomplishments in the Municipal Meet, highlighting the learners’ preparation and determination in competitive sports.

Panique’s performance was supported by her coach, Lurimae A. Fernandez, and trainer, Payne John B. Holdana, who guided her in developing the skills and discipline needed for competitive chess.

Her silver-medal finish serves as an inspiration to fellow Waders to think strategically, embrace challenges, and strive for excellence both on and off the chessboard.

WS Shuttlers Smash Through Municipal Meet, Claim Two Badminton Podium Finishes

AMIGO BADMINTON COURT — August 21, 2026. Wadeford School (WS) shuttlers Jayden Emilio De Real and Elijah Ezekiel Maningat powered their way to the podium after securing bronze medals in the Badminton Competition of the Municipal Meet 2026.

De Real showed composure and skill in the 1st Singles Category, delivering a strong campaign that earned him a bronze medal against a competitive field of elementary badminton players.

Partnering determination with teamwork, Maningat also captured a bronze medal in the Mixed Doubles Category, showcasing his ability to compete under pressure and contribute to WS’s medal haul.

Meanwhile, Danuel Lucas Pangan represented Wadeford School in the Doubles Category, gaining valuable experience while competing at the Municipal Meet level.

Under the guidance of Coach Reinan F. Rufin and Assistant Coach Lovely Mae T. Ropero, the WS Shuttlers displayed discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

The athletes’ achievements highlight Wadeford School’s continuing efforts to develop young talents who pursue excellence both on and off the court.

WS's Itulid, Encarnacion Capture Medals in Municipal Meet Taekwondo Competition

Wadeford School (WS) athletes Draven Jace O. Itulid and Stephen James E. Encarnacion showcased their skills and determination after securing medals in the Municipal Meet Taekwondo Competition held at Kalibo Pilot Elementary School on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Grade 5 learner Draven Jace O. Itulid delivered an impressive performance, capturing the gold medal in the Team Poomsae Category alongside Julz Raniel Gallardo of Aklan Learning Center and Gabriel Warren Masong of Infant Jesus Academy. He also added another achievement by securing the silver medal in the Individual Poomsae Category.

Meanwhile, Grade 10 athlete Stephen James E. Encarnacion displayed determination and skill in the Taekwondo Kyorugi Category, earning a bronze medal in the competition.

Guided by Coach Lhinson Jay Abello, the WS taekwondo athletes demonstrated discipline, focus, and perseverance throughout the competition, bringing pride and honor to the school.

Their remarkable achievements highlight Wadeford School’s commitment to developing athletes who embody excellence, sportsmanship, and dedication.

WS Footballers Edge ANHSAT, 5–4 on Penalties After 1–1 Draw

Wadeford School (WS) footballers edged Aklan National School of Arts and Trades (ANHSAT), 5–4 on penalties, after a 1–1 draw at the Aklan Catholic College football field during the Unit Meet on August 22, 2026.

With both teams deadlocked at 1–1 at the end of regulation, the match was decided through a penalty shootout. The Waders held their nerve from the spot to secure the victory and advance to the first-ever Congressional Meet.

Guided by coaches Jonathan Ilig and Clarisse Cel Chu, with Raibhen Gallardo as trainer, the WS footballers delivered a composed performance to earn their ticket to the next level of competition.

The victory marks another milestone for the WS football team as it continues its campaign beyond the Unit Meet.
