to Roar (1981), widely considered the most dangerous film production in cinema history!
Instead of using trained animals or camera tricks, director Noël Marshall and actress Tippi Hedren shot a feature film inside a house filled with over 150 wild, untrained big cats. The tagline was literally: "No animals were harmed in the making of this movie. 70 people were."
Cinematographer Jan de Bont was scalped by a lion and needed 220 stitches, while lead actress Melanie Griffith was mauled in the face and required reconstructive surgery.
Would you ever step foot on a set like this for the sake of real cinema? 💬
