Every 21st of August, the Philippines commemorates Ninoy Aquino Day.
It marks the day of his assassination in 1983, a turning point that fueled the fight for democracy.

4 months into the virtual space.

Importante din ang right attitude at yung willingness to grow.

Today, thousands took the Civil Service Examination. Eight years ago, I was one of them.

May 2015 will always be a milestone for me. That was the day I passed the Civil Service Examination – Professional. What made it unforgettable was the fact that it was my 𝗳𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗵 try.

Yes, you read that right. Five tries. Four failures before that.

I know the frustration. I know the disappointment. It is easy to think of failure as rejection, but I learned to see it differently. Every “NO” was a redirection. Every setback was a push to do more and keep going.

Before passing, I worked as a liaison. It was a role that taught me humility and persistence. After passing, I started as an Administrative Aide IV. It wasn’t a high-ranking position, but it was my first step inside the government system. I kept learning, stayed motivated, and worked hard. Over time, I moved up and eventually became an officer.

The lesson? Failing is not the end. It is proof that you’re still trying. Success will meet you when you refuse to stop.

To everyone who took the CSC exam today, I just hope you gave your best and your hard work will pay off in time.

𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚.

This was me before; inspecting infrastructure projects across the province as a Program Coordinator. I handled project reports, meetings, quarterly inspections, and stakeholder coordination. Every few months, we’d be out under the sun checking on progress. Hindi biro.

But what made it heavier wasn’t just the heat, or the long hours, or the pressure. It was the lack of recognition. When things go right, all you hear is “𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘩𝘰 𝘯𝘪𝘺𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘯𝘢.” But when something goes wrong, you're the first one they point fingers at.

Leaving that job wasn’t easy. It taught me so much. It was painful to let go of something that shaped me, but I knew I had to choose myself. Nothing is permanent. 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗱𝗲. I realized 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 and I needed to stop pouring from an empty cup.

So I chose to start over.

Now, I’m still working hard, still chasing dreams, but this time I get to do it on my own terms. Same effort, less time, and from the comfort of home. The shift to a digital career wasn’t perfect or easy. In fact, I’m still figuring it out. But there’s peace now. Fulfillment. And a quiet kind of freedom I didn’t know I needed.

No regrets. Just gratitude.
For where I’ve been and where I’m headed.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗞𝗶𝗺𝗰𝗵𝗶 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 (𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗞-𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘀)

Kimchi isn’t just a K-drama sidekick. It’s a tangy, spicy, probiotic-rich dish made from fermented vegetables like napa cabbage and radish. Packed with flavor and nutrients, kimchi earns its place as a staple for both taste and health.

Here’s why you should care:
- It’s loaded with probiotics that support gut health and digestion.
- Rich in vitamins A, B, and C.
- May help boost your immune system and fight inflammation.
- Low-calorie but flavor-heavy and it makes even boring rice exciting.

Kimchi works with almost anything: toss it in fried rice, add it to noodles, or eat it straight from the jar. Mild or fiery, it brings a kick that your gut (and your taste buds) will thank you for.

𝗧𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘁. 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁. 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁.

What’s your favorite way to eat kimchi? Let us know in the comments.

Checked out AOC Coffee, a cozy pop-up tucked at the corner of Odi-Abad Santos Street here in Koronadal. Small setup pero solid ang vibe. Perfect stop for a quick brew before heading into work mode.

I went for a 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐨, upsize syempre. Smooth, slightly sweet, with just enough kick to get me going. 𝘿𝙔𝙆? Caramel macchiato is layered: espresso goes last so your first sip hits bold before blending with the milk and syrup.

Also tried their 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐨 𝐜𝐚𝐤𝐞. Fudgy, rich, and totally worth it if you’ve got a sweet tooth. Sakto pang comfort habang nagpa-plan ng next VA content.

Siargao hits different.

Walang kailangan habulin. Walang kailangang patunayan. Pwedeng huminga. Pwedeng magpahinga.

Been to Siargao? Gusto mo rin bang bumalik o ngayon mo palang balak? Kwento mo naman.
