Yhuan Ceabastian Garcia, a Grade 12-Hertz student of Doña Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School, will be representing the Philippines at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), to be held in Sucre, Bolivia from July 27 to August 3, 2025.
The IOI is an annual global coding competition for high school students, where each country sends four of their best and brightest students to compete against each other in a display of their programming and problem-solving skills.
Yhuan has worked his way up the ladder by qualifying in the National Olympiad Informatics (NOI) qualifying round, bagging a bronze medal by placing 7th in the NOI finals round, and by placing 2nd in the Team Selection Training, ultimately becoming one of the four official official IOI delegates of the Philippines.
His achievement is monumental, being one of the two students to qualify in the NOI qualifying round from Visayas and being the only student from a national high school to advance for this year's IOI.
As Yhuan prepares for this prestigious competition, he is thankful for all the support shown to him and is honored to be one of the few people to be able to raise the banner of the Philippines in an international competition.
