𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺: 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

Today, a significant event unfolded at the MSU International Convention Center: the Know Your Candidates Forum. The gathering brought together aspirants for seats in the Bangsamoro Parliament, offering them the platform to introduce themselves, share their governance priorities, and speak directly to the people they seek to represent.

The morning session featured candidates from regional political parties, namely: 𝗣𝗥𝗢 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆, 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 (𝗕𝗚𝗖), 𝗕𝗔𝗣𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆, 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗔𝗸𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆, and the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 (𝗨𝗕𝗝𝗣). In the afternoon, the spotlight shifted to 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿’𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘀, who presented their advocacies and plans for their respective constituencies.

All candidates were given equal time to present their platforms and the guiding principles of their political parties. The highlight of the forum was the open forum, where members of the public — most notably law students from the MSU College of Law — engaged the candidates with timely and relevant questions on 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆.

This forum stands as a vital step in voter education as the Bangsamoro region prepares for the first-ever 2025 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections since the establishment of BARMM. As Dean Barodi of the MSU College of Law emphasized in his opening remarks: “𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥.”

This meaningful initiative was spearheaded by 𝗜𝗘𝗠𝗖 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 through the 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰, in partnership with 𝗜𝗕𝗣 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶’𝗮𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰, 𝗠𝗦𝗨 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀, 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰, 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗿, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲, and the 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

𝐌𝐒𝐔 𝐋𝐚𝐰 𝐓𝐚𝐰𝐢-𝐓𝐚𝐰𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐋𝐀𝐓

On June 7, the MSU College of Law Tawi-Tawi Extension Campus successfully conducted its first-ever Digital MSU Law Admission Test (MLAT) — a historic leap from traditional exams to digital testing, held at the MSU iLab, MSU-TCTO.

Powered by 𝐢𝐍𝐙𝐏𝐢𝐫𝐞, a pioneering software developed by Mr. Pangcoga exclusively for MSU Law, this marks a major step toward preparing future lawyers for the digital Bar Examinations. Tawi-Tawi becomes the first among MSU Law units to fully implement the digital MLAT.

A total of 33 applicants took the exam in two batches, with full support from MSU-TCTO and the MSU Law Main Campus, led by Dean Atty. Norhabib Bin Suod Barodi and Assistant Dean Atty. Norsary Mamad.

The (SC) 𝘌𝘯 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘤, during its session today, May 6, 2025, issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) preventing the Legal Education Board (LEB) from enforcing its resolutions, which:

- prohibited the Mindanao State University (MSU) College of Law from opening its law programs in its Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, and Maguindanao campuses; and
- revoked the accreditation of the MSU College of Law and ordered its closure effective Academic Year 2025-2026.

The TRO was issued in response to separate petitions for certiorari filed by the MSU and Abdul Rahman Ltiph Nasser. The petitioners also questioned the LEB's authority over the MSU College of Law under Republic Act No. 7662, or the 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘈𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 1993.

The SC required the LEB and the MSU to file their respective memoranda of authorities on the effect of Article IX, Sec. 16 of the 𝘉𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘰 𝘖𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤 𝘓𝘢𝘸 on the jurisdiction of the LEB over the MSU, within a non-extendible period of 15 days from notice.
