127 GREEN SEA TURTLE HATCHLINGS RELEASED IN BALER, AURORA

A total of 127 Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas) hatchlings were released into Baler Bay through a joint effort by the DENR and the local government of Baler to support marine turtle conservation.

The hatchlings were safely released near the Aurora Watershed Forest Reserve protected area after DENR CENRO Dingalan and the Baler municipal environment office monitored their nest.

DENR said the activity is part of its continuing efforts to protect marine turtles and their nesting and feeding habitats.

Meanwhile, two other marine turtle nesting sites in Baler are being monitored, with hatchling emergence expected between September 9 and October 22, 2026.
