Limasawa Island Travel Guide 2025

From history books to reality — Limasawa is a place every Filipino should see!

🛫 How to get there?
Limasawa is located off the southern tip of Southern Leyte. It's a bit of a journey, but well worth it!

Option 1: via Tacloban
1. Book a flight to Tacloban
2. Ride a Jeep to 7-eleven Airport Rd (Caltex) (P20)
3. Take the van to Maasin City (P500) *Tip: Buy groceries/needs in the city
4. Ride the Multi-cab to Padre Burgos Pier (P50)
5. Boat-trip to Limasawa Island (P150)

Option 2: via Cebu (faster option)
1. Book a flight to Cebu
2. Ride a cab/bus from Mactan Airport to Cebu Sea Port
3. Take the OceanJet Ferry to Maasin Port
4. Ride the Multi-cab to Padre Burgos Pier (P50)
5. Boat-trip to Limasawa Island (P150)

🏡 Where to stay?
Via Amore Limasawa Island
P2,000 per night (for 4 pax)
Amenities: Beachfront, a huge garden backyard, airconditioned room with outdoor kitchen, lounge, fast wifi and the best sunset view!
Location: Cabulihan —a few steps from the boulevard
Review: Best place in Limasawa!

⛪️ Places to visit
The whole island can be explored in a day or two but I recommend staying more days to truly soak in its calm rhythm. Here are places you shouldn’t miss!

- Magellan’s Cross (First Mass Shrine, Museum, Poblacion)
- Island Lagoon Resort (P35) (North Parola)
- Dakdak Beach Resort (P50)
- Talisay Beach
- Limasawa Island view deck
- Limasawa Peak
- Limasawa Boulevard (don’t miss the beach near the mangroves)
- Magallanes Beach (Fishing village)
- Limasawa Landmark
- South Parola
- Genezareth Beach Resort

Note: You can visit these places via Boat Tour, Tricycle Land Tour or renting a Motorbike

- Dajuk (contact ate Jesely)
- Humba, Kilawin
- A variety of fresh catch seafood (best kinilaw or grilled!)

🛵 Motorbike Rental
P350-P500 per day

🚣 Boat rental
P2,000 good for 4 Pax

💡Tips
1. Plan your trip ahead and research about the boat schedules
2. Book your stays in advance (this way you can seek guidance from a local perspective if you have questions)
3. Food - there are a number of kainan in the island - I've listed a few but you can buy your groceries in Maasin City before heading to Padre Burgos.
4. Both Globe and Smart has a tower, Via Amore's wifi is incredibly fast (work-from-home friendly!)
5. Travel early- it takes up to 10 hours, magbaon ng anti-hilo meds at patience
6. Bring cash! No ATM or card transactions (Gcash but only a few!)
7. Kumalma ka! Expect nothing like the usual tourist destinations—it’s calm, barely touched, and beautifully unbothered by the rush and noise.

LIMASAWA ISLAND — this one’s for the history keepers, the sunset chasers, and those quietly carrying what words can’t always hold. 💭

Limasawa isn’t just a destination; it’s a living memory — where time slows, the sea listens, and silence speaks louder than words. In its quiet shores and golden skies, we are reminded that healing doesn’t always come with answers —sometimes, it comes with stillness, salt air, and the courage to breathe again.

Thank you for reading! Maajong pagdajon sa Isla Limasawa!
