LGU-Mauban and BPI Foundation Forge Partnership for Financial Literacy Advocacy
By: Anna Gob
MAUBAN, Quezon — More than just a memorandum of agreement was signed on July 31, 2025, between the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Mauban and BPI Foundation—it was a commitment to uplift the lives of thousands of Mauban residents through financial empowerment.
Under BPI Foundation’s flagship program FinEd Unboxed, the initiative aims to instill awareness and discipline in managing personal finances, particularly among individuals in the Class D and E socioeconomic sectors. According to BPI Foundation Executive Director Ms. Carmina Marquez, earning money is not enough—Filipinos must also learn how to manage their finances wisely to achieve genuine progress.
“Our goal is not just to teach financial literacy, but to build empowered and self-sustaining communities,” Marquez said in an interview.
In its first year, the program targets to directly benefit around 4,000 Mauban residents through a series of seminars, workshops, and training sessions conducted in partnership with the LGU. The three-year rollout aims to reach a total of 40,000 beneficiaries.
The campaign welcomes participants regardless of age or educational background. The presence of PPSK President Yeoj Angelo Pastrana at the launch affirmed the important role of youth in spreading financial awareness among their peers. Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Alween Sardea, Atty. Jerome Brusas, and Program Manager Manolo Roberto Nava expressed their strong support for the initiative, aligning with the broader vision of building a more resilient and informed Mauban community.
In a town rich in culture and history, this project marks a new chapter—where financial knowledge becomes a powerful tool for real and lasting change.
