When we saw this castle, we couldn't help but wonder...how it was conquered on that era?🏰
It looks challenging..😅

This castle is on the top of a volcanic rock🛘 that gave it a naturally strong defensive position against invaders. The castle dates back to the 12th century, but the rock is believed to have been occupied for more than 2,500 years.

It is often described as one of the most besieged castles in Scotland. It faced more than 20 attacks and sieges on its history.

And getting to the castle isn't really easy. The approach to the main gate is uphill, with stairs and a steep pathway. Just imagine how difficult it must have been for an army trying to storm this fortress centuries ago.

Oops… there was a festival during our visit, so the entrance was closed. It seemed like the castle was treating us like invaders.😅 We didn't even get pass the walls!!!..

Don't cross the UK out of your list because you've visited London and Stonehenge. They're just one side of a much deeper and more interesting British experience.🇬🇧

This wasn't our first time visiting a castle, but was our 1st castle in the UK. 🏰

Alnwick Castle is on the northern England and was one of the frontliners defending the northern border. It is more than 900 years old and survived many sieges, battles, and conflicts. By standing inside its wall, we could only hum in silence, "Ilan kaya ang namatay dito?"😅

This castle was used as a filming location for Harry Potter, so we both experienced medieval England and the wizarding world in one place.

And unlike many castles that have been abandoned, emptied, and left in ruins, Alnwick is still very alive. It remains a private family residence until today.

And there are still many more to see..that's what make us another longing to return. ❤️🏰

Crowded..but it doesn't ruin the experience😊.
It's all part of the travel experience.

Three Durbar Squares, three kings competed to outdo each other for years. A local guide shared with us the story of how each king wanted his capital to be grander than the others. Not only by military might but also for art and architecture.

In short "payabangan"! Pagandahan ng palasyo, patayugan ng temple, at pabonggahan ng festival.🎉.

For centuries, the kingdoms and their kings have long been gone, but the competition never really ended. The kings got exactly what they wanted! Their masterpieces remain, demanding for attention and comparison. And judging by the number of visitors, we don't know who is winning.🏆🏅

(We skipped Kathmandu Durbar Square because of the damaged brought by earthquake).

Are we budget travelers? 💸💸
Not really - we budget for convenience😄.

We don't travel on the lowest budget.
We travel in the way that lets us experience more and worry less. We don't mind spending a little more if it means saving time🕑, avoiding stress, making our travel smoother.🧭

Our every trip is about creating memories. The cheapest deal is, of course, an added bonus😊.

Among all the landmarks we've visited, this is the only one that has no historical story to tell.
Landmarks are usually built to commemorate an event, a person, a place or a significant achievement - but this one has none. One of the Wonders? 😅

This landmark is unique and encourages us just to have our own interpretation and appreciation of this artwork. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. We visited it purposely for an EXPERIENCE.

These four towering steel plates were created by an American sculptor Richard Serra in the desert of northern Qatar.

We've been eyeing for this tower for a long time but it looked abandoned - the Al Tuwayyah Tower.

But it leave us question behind. Its purpose? Its contribution? What makes it significant?

For us, the well that the tower once protected was the real highlight. Today, it is completely dry and out of water source. This was the village's only source of fresh water so many years ago.

Now, both the well and the tower stand deserted as silent reminders of a time when they were essential to the people who lived here.

Middle-earth isn't included in the world map🌏 but existing in Google map..😅

Its a dream every fan should experience🏔. A few minutes from QUEENSTOWN, standing the iconic filming sites of The Lord of the Rings.🌿💍They are still as magical as they were on screen. Untouched and raw!!😍 Which location you should visit first?
