Excuse me po, Mr. President Bongbong Marcos. I beg to disagree with you po. This enormous plastics floating on the river is not a manifestation that we need an incinerator. This is only a manifestation of failed solid waste management system tied to other urban planning system that is currently implemented and existing in the country. It is true as well that we are facing issue in the electric supply but have we calculated already the environmental, health, social, economic repercussions that incinerators can caused? So please, if you want to solve this issue go to the grassroots level and observe them. Co-evaluate their compliance to RA 9003, Co-assess as well their waste generation, and with your power try to convince the big companies to slowly change their environmentally devastating business blueprints. THE INCINERATOR Mr. President IS A BAND AID SOLUTION AND WILL JUST MAKE US MORE GARBAGE DEPENDENT IN SOME LEVEL.

BASURA, GAGAWING KURYENTE

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on local government units and the public to practice proper waste disposal following reports of a massive accumulation of garbage in Brgy. Baclaran, Parañaque City.

Marcos warned that improperly discarded waste can cause serious damage, particularly when trash ends up in waterways and other inappropriate areas.

“Nananawagan kami sa lahat ng involved – ang ating mga local goverment unit, lahat ng mamamayang Pilipino, mag-ingat po kayo dahil ang laking pinsala ang nangyayari kapag ‘yung basura natin ay hindi maganda ang pagtapon at kung saan-saan na lang nilalagay,” Marcos said.

The President also said the government will push ahead with its waste-to-energy program, which seeks to process garbage and convert it into electricity.

“Itutuloy na natin ‘yung waste to energy na program. Yun yung kinukuha yung basura at ito ay pino-process at gagawing kuryente.”

The Ocean Cleanup has surpassed 50 million kilograms (110 million pounds) of plastic and other waste removed from oceans and rivers worldwide, marking one of the largest marine cleanup efforts ever undertaken.

The recovered waste—equivalent to the weight of more than 300 adult blue whales—includes abandoned fishing gear, plastic bottles, packaging, and microplastic sources intercepted before reaching the open ocean. Scientists estimate 8–11 million tonnes of plastic enter the oceans every year, making river interception and large-scale cleanup critical for protecting marine ecosystems.

Ang mga delegado magatun-an sang maayo nahanungod sa mga lokal nga Solid Waste Management (SWM) ordinance, ang epekto sang basura sa kalusugan kag kalibutan, kag ang kaangtanan sang waste management sa disaster risk reduction. Indi lang ini puro diskusyon, magahimo man ang tagsa ka grupo sang 6-month SWM action plan para sa ila mga eskwelahan kag barangay, magapasakop sa community clean-up drive, magapatigayun sang waste & brand audit, kag magapirma sang Youth Eco-Declaration!
