ICYMI: CTRL + AI + DELETE

AI isn’t just about algorithms and automation — it’s about people.
Carljoe Javier, Executive Director & Chief AI Ethicist of Data & AI Ethics PH, reminded us that while AI is a powerful creative tool, its use must always be responsible, human-centered, and ethical.

💡 Drawing from his experience as an educator, author, and former CEO of PumaPodcast, Carljoe emphasized that the future of AI in advertising will depend on how we define and uphold values such as:
Originality — ensuring AI enhances creativity, not replaces it
Credibility — keeping content truthful, transparent, and respectful
Consumer trust — protecting audiences from harmful or misleading AI-driven outputs

His call to action was clear: technology should serve humanity, not the other way around. The challenge for advertisers and creators is to embrace innovation while putting ethics and responsibility at the center of every AI-powered campaign.

“That’s me… and that’s not me.”
With this striking demo — an AI-generated video of himself speaking in a translated language — Atty. Joshua Jerome Santiago (Managing Partner, Javier, Santiago, Torres & Panghulan Law Offices; Board Secretary, Philippine AI Business Association) brought the audience face-to-face with The Deepfake Dilemma.

💡 His point: as AI becomes more sophisticated, the line between innovation and impersonation grows thinner. While the technology opens doors for accessibility, business, and even law, it also poses urgent questions:
Who owns the rights to AI-generated likeness?
How do we safeguard authenticity in an age of synthetic content?
Where do we draw the line between creative use and ethical misuse?

His perspective underscored that responsible AI adoption must be anchored in transparency, credibility, and consumer protection — not just efficiency or novelty.

AI is reshaping how we create, connect, and communicate. But as it becomes a powerful tool in advertising, we need to ask: Are we using it right?
At the National Summit on Fair and Progressive Advertising Self-Regulation 2025 — “Towards 50 Years: Patas na Patalastas” — this session unpacked the legal and ethical boundaries of AI in advertising: from intellectual property and copyright concerns to questions of transparency, originality, and consumer trust.

🎙️ Our Panelists:
Carljoe Javier, Executive Director & Chief AI Ethicist of Data & AI Ethics PH, educator, author, and former CEO of PumaPodcast — a staunch advocate of responsible, human-centered technology use.
Atty. Joshua Jerome Santiago, Managing Partner of Javier, Santiago, Torres & Panghulan Law Offices, and Founding Executive Member & Board Secretary of the Philippine AI Business Association — bringing legal expertise on how AI intersects with law, business, and ethics.
👩‍💼 Moderated by Pinky Aseron.

✨ Key Takeaways:
AI is a creative tool — but originality and credibility must remain protected.
Legal safeguards around IP and copyright are critical in AI-driven content.
Responsible use of AI means putting ethics at the center, not just innovation.
The industry must work together to define standards that balance creativity with consumer trust.

ICYMI: Fame, Follows, and Fairness: Responsible Influencer Marketing
From the brand and agency lens, the conversation took a deep dive into how partnerships with creators can — and should — be built on trust, ethics, and accountability.

💡 Jim Guzman of UNILAB (also an active member of CICP) emphasized that brands play a crucial role in shaping the influencer ecosystem — ensuring collaborations are grounded in responsibility and consumer protection.

💡 Kara Santiago-Dagdag, CEO & Co-Founder of Link Strategies, echoed this by highlighting how agencies must bridge creators and brands with transparency, guiding campaigns beyond short-term hype toward long-term credibility.

Together, they showed that fair and progressive influencer marketing is not just the work of creators alone — but a shared responsibility across the industry to uphold values, protect audiences, and strengthen consumer trust.

For creators like Gino Quillamor and Phillip Hernandez (a.k.a. Davao Conyo), influence is more than going viral — it’s about the responsibility that comes with every post, every story, and every share.

Building a culture where values matter more than virality

ICYMI: Fame, Follows, and Fairness: Responsible Influencer Marketing

In today’s creator economy, being “real” is no longer enough. At the National Summit on Fair and Progressive Advertising Self-Regulation 2025 — “Towards 50 Years: Patas na Patalastas” — our panelists unpacked what it truly takes to make influencer marketing fair, progressive, and future-ready.

✨ What we learned:
Authenticity needs accountability. Influence comes with responsibility.

Shared values build stronger bonds. Brands and creators must align beyond contracts.

Ethics = trust. Transparency protects not just consumers, but the industry itself.

Impact over numbers. Engagement is fleeting; credibility lasts.

🎙️ With insights from Jim Guzman (UNILAB), Kara Santiago-Dagdag (Link Strategies), Gino Quillamor, and Phillip Hernandez (Davao Conyo), the conversation pushed us to imagine an ecosystem where influence is guided not by virality alone, but by values.
