2025 DOE Fuel EcoRun to kickstart

2025 DOE-Petron Fuel EcoRun is set to happen tomorrow, September 24, 2025 at a designated stretch of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).

Petron Corporation, the country’s largest oil refining and marketing company, once again backs the renowned EcoRun.

The EcoRun, spearheaded by the Department of Energy (DOE), will feature close to 70 participating vehicles, including internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid (HEV), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and battery electric vehicles (BEV), highlighting their fuel economy performance under real-world driving conditions.

All ICE-powered and hybrid participants will be fueled by Petron XCS and Petron Turbo Diesel.

The 2025 DOE–Petron Fuel EcoRun will flag off from Petron TPLEX Northbound, turn around at the Rosario, La Union rotunda, and finish at Petron TPLEX Southbound, completing a distance of approximately 156-kilometers.

The activity is not a competition but a demonstration of how different vehicle technologies—from internal combustion to hybrids and electric—perform under actual expressway driving conditions.

By providing the official fuels, Petron ensures that all ICE-powered and hybrid vehicles are tested with the same high-quality benchmark fuels, guaranteeing fairness and credibility in results.

Fuel price hikes persist: Gas up P1/liter, diesel by 80 centavos/liter

The motoring public will pay even more for petroleum products this week, as local fuel retailers announced price increases of as much as P1 a liter.

In an advisory Monday, Seaoil said prices of gasoline and kerosene would go up by P1 a liter.

Diesel prices will also go up, but by a lower 80 centavos per liter.

Oil companies usually announce their price adjustments every Monday, with the implementation scheduled the next day.

VOLKSWAGEN AND ACEI TRANSITION OUT OF DISTRIBUTION TIES IN THE PHILIPPINES

Automobile Central Enterprise, Inc. (ACEI), a wholly owned subsidiary of AC Industrials, and Volkswagen AG have formally agreed to conclude their partnership for the distribution of Volkswagen vehicles in the Philippines.

As this chapter comes to a close, both companies move forward with strategies mirroring the continued evolution of the automotive space in the country.

“Over the past years, we’ve been proud to have brought the heritage and innovation of Volkswagen to the Filipino market,” said Dana Uson, Head of Strategy of ACMobility. “As we continue our transformation towards electric and sustainable mobility solutions, we recognize this as a natural point of evolution for both companies. While our paths are now taking different directions, we part ways with mutual respect, deep appreciation, and with optimism as both organizations pursue new opportunities.”

ACEI has served as the official distributor of Volkswagen vehicles in the Philippines since 2013.

Through the years, Volkswagen offered a diverse range of models that catered to Filipino families and enthusiasts alike, establishing a strong presence with dealerships across key regions in the country.

As part of the transition, Volkswagen’s selling activities in the Philippines will officially end, and the brand’s final dealership, Volkswagen BGC, will cease operations by the end of the month.

While the distribution chapter comes to a close, Volkswagen remains fully committed to supporting existing customers in the Philippines. Vehicle servicing, maintenance, and warranty support will continue to be available through the Alabang Service Center, Pampanga Service Center and other authorized service touchpoints.

Volkswagen AG expressed its gratitude to ACEI for their stewardship and contributions over the years.
