DOTr eyeing 2025 ‘Love Bus’ relaunch

A day after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced the return of the “Love Bus” during his fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Tuesday that it is eyeing the roll out of the once-popular public transportation before the end of the year.

“Hopefully before the end of the year, we are already starting it as a nationwide program,” Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said in a Facebook post, referring to the iconic public transportation in Metro Manila that was popular in the 1970 and 80s.

According to Dizon, the DOTr is already preparing for the implementation of the program, which he said will be rolled out in different areas of the country.

“We will immediately do what the President wants for our fellow commuters. We will study this (Love Bus) in the coming weeks,”added Dizon.

‘Love Bus’ design unveiled

In the same Facebook post, the DOTr unveiled the design of the “Love Bus” that the government is set to roll out.

Aside from the “Love Bus” logo, the side of the public transportation was marked with the name “Bagong Pilipinas,” which serves as the brand of the Marcos administration.

The DOTr and “Bagong Pilipinas” logos can also be seen on the bus’ front side.

During his Sona on Monday, Marcos announced that the government will revive the “Love Bus,” emphasizing that it will be offered to passengers for free.

The “Love Bus” was known as the first air-conditioned bus in the Philippines. It was said to be a project of the President’s mother, then- First Lady Imelda R. Marcos. /gsg
