What is a Hybrid Vehicle?

A hybrid vehicle is a car that has two batteries:
1. A 12-volt (or similar small battery) that powers accessories, like any car.
2. A main high-voltage battery (typically between 0.2 kWh to 2 kWh).
The engine and battery work together to improve fuel efficiency. The battery alone can power the car when possible, while the engine takes over when more power is needed—typically about 50% of the time, especially when the car is in motion.
Engines are highly fuel-inefficient in traffic and at idle, which is why hybrid systems use batteries to improve efficiency in all driving conditions.
