TRB OKs CAVITEX Toll Adjustment Effective October 28, 2025

The Toll Regulatory Board has approved the toll rate petitions of CIC and PRA (filed in 2020 & 2023) for the Manila–Cavite Expressway.

To cushion the impact, CAVITEX will reactivate the Abante Program, allowing registered PUVs and agri trucks to continue paying old rates for 90 days.

New Toll Rates (VAT-inclusive)
CAVITEX R1 – Seaside to Zapote
• Class 1 — ₱39
• Class 2 — ₱78
• Class 3 — ₱117

R1 Extension Segment 4 – Zapote to Kawit (1st tranche)
• Class 1 — ₱88
• Class 2 — ₱176
• Class 3 — ₱264

Other Adjustments
• Sucat Interchange rates will also be updated
• CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 2 new rates: ₱38 / ₱76 / ₱114

Completed and ongoing upgrades include bridge joint replacements, RFID/ALPR enhancements, and pavement rehabilitation.

Throwback Thursday, as if it was revealing itself and for the first time after a hiatus last 2024, the trainsets formally restarted their deployment to the mainline from their depot for test run, SIX MONTHS AGO!

Full of excitement despite the intense heat, we patiently waited for their return while still being pushed by the red UNIMOG. To date, the rolling stocks are gradually being tested, patiently waiting for welcoming their passengers in the coming years. Truly, it was Trainset 1's milestone for the entire project.

This is the view from one of the sections of CALAX Subsection 3 as it will appear once opened to motorists.

Long stretches of cut sections and wide open plains define this part of the alignment, offering a clear perspective of the route motorists will eventually pass through.

Once operational, this segment will serve as a vital link across Cavite, improving travel time and accessibility between key areas in the province.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), in partnership with Autosweep and Easytrip, have officially rolled out the One RFID, All Tollways program — allowing motorists to use just one RFID account for all participating expressways.

How to enroll in 3 easy steps:

1️⃣ Opt-in online and select your preferred RFID provider.

2️⃣ Have the other RFID sticker removed at any authorized service center.

3️⃣ Top up your chosen RFID account and you’re good to go.

SAN MIGUEL Holdings Corp. (SMHC), the infrastructure arm of San Miguel Corp. (SMC), is poised to secure the ₱8.01-𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙮 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 after no competing bids were submitted, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“No other proposals came in by the deadline,” the DPWH communications team said in a Viber message to BusinessWorld over the weekend, citing information from the agency’s Office of Planning and Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

SMHC was granted original proponent status for the unsolicited project, which involves the financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 2.54-kilometer bridge system — including a 1.14-kilometer limited-access bridge — that will connect Caticlan in Malay, Aklan to Boracay Island.

The proposed bridge will feature public transport access, pedestrian lanes, bikeways, and provisions for utility lines such as power, telecommunications, water supply, and sewerage, according to the PPP Center.

Waterway Bridge 5 Girder Installation Now Fully Completed!

The final three spans of Waterway Bridge 5 have officially been installed, marking the full completion of girder installation works. The lifting operations took place over a four-day period, from October 15 to 18, 2025, with Span 1, located above Mayor’s Drive, installed during nighttime to minimize traffic disruption.

Waterway Bridge 5 consists of six spans crossing the Ylang-Ylang River. The first three spans were successfully installed earlier in March 2025.

This bridge forms part of the Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 2, a 9.79-kilometer stretch covering the segment from Governor’s Drive Interchange to Open Canal Interchange. A future interchange near Mayor’s Drive is also planned to further enhance accessibility along the route.
