1. Draw a Floor Plan
Sketch your home or building layout.
Mark all exits (doors, windows, stairways).
Highlight primary and secondary escape routes from each room.
Show locations of fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and emergency kits.
๐ช 2. Identify Exits
Ensure that all rooms have two ways out if possible.
Keep hallways, doors, and windows unobstructed at all times.
๐ 3. Install and Test Smoke Alarms
Place smoke alarms in every bedroom, hallway, and each level of the building.
Test alarms monthly and change batteries annually.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ 4. Assign Responsibilities
Designate someone to help children, elderly, or people with disabilities.
Have a buddy system to ensure no one is left behind.
๐โโ๏ธ 5. Practice Regularly
Conduct fire drills at least twice a year.
Practice during the day and night, and simulate different scenarios.
๐ 6. Establish a Meeting Point
Choose a safe, visible location outside (e.g., a tree, mailbox, or neighborโs house).
Make sure everyone knows not to re-enter the building once outside.
๐ 7. Emergency Contacts
Teach everyone how to call 911 or local emergency numbers.
Post important numbers near phones or on the fridge.
๐งฏ 8. Know How to Use Fire Safety Equipment
Train on how to use fire extinguishers (PASS: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
Teach how to stay low under smoke and check doors for heat before opening.
