LOOK: In line with the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced-Managing Police Operations, under the leadership of PBGEN ROGELIO Z RAYMUNDO, JR, Director, PNP-EOD/K9 Group, and under the supervision of PMAJ KAROL JOSEPH A RICAFORT, Officer-in-Charge, RECU 13, personnel from the Provincial EOD and Canine Unit (PECU) Surigao del Norte conducted a Render Safe Procedure (RSP) on three (3) pieces of bottle Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The IEDs were confiscated during a joint anti-illegal fishing operation off Brgy. Jubang, Dapa, Surigao del Norte, by local police and maritime teams. The Dapa MPS turned over the items, which are now with the investigator for the filing of the appropriate complaint in court.

This successful intervention underscores our strengthened operational readiness and reflects our unwavering commitment to community safety by ensuring hazardous materials are managed with professional precision.

CCTV TRAIL EXPOSES NEIGHBORS: NCRPO NABS TWO IN SAMPALOC HOME ROBBERY

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has dismantled a robbery ring operating in Sampaloc, Manila, following the arrest of two suspects caught on CCTV systematically raiding a private residence while the owners were away.

The arrest marks a swift victory for local investigators who utilized digital surveillance to pierce through the suspects' attempts to evade detection.

The victims, who had been on a trip to Singapore, returned home on the morning of July 8, 2026, to find their residence ransacked. Forced entry via the rear door resulted in the theft of personal belongings and valuables totaling ₱113,650.00.

An exhaustive review of local CCTV footage revealed a calculated and brazen operation. The footage captured the suspects—who were positively identified by the victims as their own neighbors—repeatedly entering and exiting the home over the course of seven days, from July 1 to July 7, to haul away stolen property.

Acting on the digital trail, NCRPO operatives conducted a targeted follow-up operation. The suspects, both tricycle drivers aged 33 and 56, were apprehended in front of the victims' residence. Authorities successfully recovered a portion of the stolen goods, including jewelry identified by the victims.

A third suspect remains at large, and police have launched an intensive manhunt to ensure their capture and the recovery of all remaining stolen property. Both suspects are currently in police custody, facing charges for Violation of Article 299 of the Revised Penal Code (Robbery in an Inhabited Place).

PMGEN ANTHONY A ABERIN, Regional Director of the NCRPO, lauded the rapid investigative response and issued a stern warning to those who exploit public trust.

"This case is a testament to the power of modern investigative tools like CCTV in solving property crimes," said PMGEN ABERIN. "There is no sanctuary for those who violate the privacy and security of a person’s home. We will continue to pursue those who prey on our citizens with relentless determination."

In line with strengthening the country's preparedness and inter-agency coordination for nuclear and radiological emergencies, PCOL RAYNOLD A ROSERO, Deputy Director for Administration, represented the PNP-EOD/K9 Group during the ASEAN Nuclear Emergency Notification and Communication Exercise (Day 2–3) held at Hilton Manila, Newport World Resorts.

The multi-day exercise highlighted synchronized emergency response activities focused on national coordination, international notification procedures, field monitoring, public communication, and the use of real-time decision support systems for protective action and assessment.

On the final day, the Nuclear Energy Program–Inter-Agency Committee (NEP-IAC) supervised the continuation of the emergency planning exercise, culminating in plenary discussions on emergency protocols and data management, followed by the closing ceremony.

The participation of the PNP-EOD/K9 Group reflects its continuing commitment to enhancing operational readiness, strengthening inter-agency collaboration, and ensuring effective response capabilities against nuclear and radiological emergencies in support of public safety and national security.

NCRPO NABS SUSPECT IN ₱600,000 COUNTERFEIT LUXURY WATCH SCAM

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has apprehended a 55-year-old businessman following an elaborate fraudulent scheme involving the sale of a fake luxury wristwatch worth ₱600,000.

The arrest took place in the early hours of July 9, 2026, following a high-stakes transaction inside a casino complex in Pasay City.

According to the investigation, the victim, a businesswoman, was lured into a transaction under the guise of a lucrative "buyout." The suspect allegedly misrepresented a counterfeit timepiece as an authentic luxury watch, promising the victim a significant return on investment. The plan was to flip the watch for an estimated ₱2.5 million, with the victim anticipating a 10% share of the profits.

The deception unraveled shortly after the exchange. The parties relocated to a hotel in Manila for formal authentication, where experts immediately flagged the item as a counterfeit. Upon discovering the fraud, the victim took swift action to detain the suspect and alerted the authorities.

Responding officers from the Southern Police District (SPD) took custody of the suspect and the fraudulent item, which is now being processed as key evidence. The suspect faces charges for Violation of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (Estafa through False Pretenses or Fraudulent Representation). The case is now being prepared for e-inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.

NCRPO FOILS GRAB‑AND‑BOLT SNATCHING PLOT; E‑BIKE DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER TARGETING TOURIST IN PASAY

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported the swift arrest of an e‑bike driver involved in a grab‑and‑bolt phone‑snatching scheme along Gil Puyat Avenue corner Tramo Street, Barangay 50, Pasay City, after quick action from alert motorcycle‑riding police personnel and the decisive intervention of the victim’s fiancé.

At around 12:00 midnight, a foreign tourist and her fiancé were walking along the avenue when an e‑bike carrying three riders suddenly blocked their path. Two passengers alighted and forcibly grabbed the victim’s cellular phone, then fled on foot—abandoning their driver in a failed attempt to escape.

The victim’s fiancé immediately restrained the driver, preventing him from fleeing despite sustaining minor injuries. A concerned citizen flagged down patrolling personnel of the Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU) of the Pasay City Police Station, who responded without delay and placed the suspect under arrest.

A follow‑up body search yielded a 10‑inch kitchen knife tucked in the suspect’s pants pocket, in addition to the e‑bike used in the crime. The 25‑year‑old driver now faces complaints for Robbery with Violence or Intimidation under Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code and Illegal Possession of Bladed Weapon under BP Blg. 6.

The stolen phone, valued at approximately ₱70,000, remains unrecovered. The suspect was brought to a Pasay City hospital for medical examination prior to inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office. Follow‑up operations are underway to track down the two fleeing suspects.

NCRPO Regional Director PMGEN Anthony A Aberin commended both the victim’s fiancé and the responding TMRU personnel for their decisive action.

“Our streets are not hunting grounds for opportunistic criminals. This incident shows that whether it’s our foreign visitors or ordinary Filipinos walking our roads at night, NCRPO personnel remain within reach and ready to respond,” Aberin said.

He emphasized that the NCRPO continues to intensify intelligence‑driven patrols and proactive policing under its Safer Cities Initiative, urging residents and tourists to remain vigilant, especially in high‑foot‑traffic areas during late hours. # # #
