This is Where Your Taxes Go: The Ugly Truth About Corruption in the Philippines
Every Filipino knows the struggle of paying taxes. Whether you’re a jeepney driver, a call center agent, a market vendor, or an OFW, part of your hard-earned income is taken by the government. We pay because we believe our money should go to better schools, free healthcare, safe roads, and programs that uplift the poor.
But let’s face it—the reality is heartbreaking.
Instead of progress, we see:
Dilapidated classrooms where children still study on the floor.
Public hospitals without medicine, where patients are told to “buy it outside.”
Flooded streets and pothole-filled roads despite billions allocated for infrastructure.
And yet—our corrupt officials live like kings. They ride in luxury SUVs, hold parties in five-star hotels, buy properties abroad, and post their wealth online without shame.
This is where your taxes go in the Philippines.
Not to teachers who need a decent wage.
Not to hospitals saving lives.
Not to the farmers who feed us.
👉 Bisag gipalit nimo nga gatas para sa imong anak, naa nay tax.
👉 Bisag tambal nga imong paliton para sa sakit, naa gihapon tax.
👉 Tanan nga butang nga imong paliton — naa gyud nay tax.
Kung unsa nga singot ang imong gipaagas para makabayad, mao pud unta ang singot nga gamiton para motabang sa katawhan. Pero unsa man? Giluthang ra sa bulsa sa mga kurakot nga opisyal!
What’s worse? When they get exposed, they deny everything. They use fancy lawyers, drag the case in court, and in the end—nothing happens. Some even get reelected, as if corruption is just part of our culture. Nakakagalit!
Meanwhile, ordinary citizens are punished for even the smallest tax delay. We sacrifice, we work hard, we obey the law—but those in power steal without fear.
So, where do our taxes go in the Philippines?
To corruption. To lavish lifestyles. To shameless greed.
Until we stop tolerating this broken system, our children will inherit nothing but debt, poverty, and disappointment.
We deserve better. The Filipino people deserve transparency, honesty, and true public service.
It’s time to demand accountability. It’s time to say: Enough is enough!
