MARINO PH | Australian Authorities Seize $82 Million Worth of Co***ne Hidden in Shipping Container at Brisbane Port

Australian authorities have confiscated over 250 kilograms of co***ne hidden inside a shipping container at the Port of Brisbane. The illicit cargo, estimated to be worth upwards of AUD $82 million, was intercepted following a multi-agency investigation led by the Australian Border Force (ABF) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

The co***ne was discovered stashed inside five sports bags concealed within a sea cargo container declared to be carrying legitimate goods. The container, which had recently arrived from overseas, was flagged for further inspection after authorities received intelligence suggesting it may have been used to traffic illicit substances.

X-ray scanning and a thorough physical examination of the container revealed the hidden packages. Subsequent testing confirmed the presence of co***ne, prompting a full criminal investigation into the attempted importation.

“This seizure represents a significant blow to organized criminal networks attempting to infiltrate our borders,” said an AFP spokesperson. “Had this shipment reached the streets, it could have resulted in over a million individual drug deals, with devastating social consequences.”

Authorities have yet to confirm any arrests, but forensic analysis and international intelligence cooperation are underway to identify the syndicate responsible.

The bust highlights the increasing sophistication of smuggling tactics and the need for ongoing vigilance at Australian ports, which remain key entry points for transnational criminal operations.

The investigation remains active, and officials have not ruled out further arrests or additional seizures connected to the case.
