The College of Criminology continues to raise the bar in community engagement as it received the Most Implemented CARES Program of the Year during the prestigious CARES EXEMPLAR 2025 Awards held last May 30, 2025, at the UCLM Basic Education Auditorium.

Today, April 26, 2025, as part of the Community Extension Programs of the College of Criminology, a Seminar-Workshop on Search and Arrest Techniques was successfully conducted for the BPSO from our adopted barangays, Opao and Umapad, together with our dedicated CARES Volunteers.

The session was led by our esteemed instructor and active law enforcement officer, PLTCOL Zosimo Jabas, who shared valuable knowledge, techniques, and real-world practices on lawful search and arrest procedures.

This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to empowering local communities, enhancing public safety, and strengthening partnerships between UCLM and its partner barangays.

Through education and collaboration, we continue to create safer and more resilient communities!

In a powerful display of compassion and civic responsibility, Criminology students of UCLM stepped up as voluntary blood donors during the Bloodletting Campaign held on April 2, 2025, at the UCLM Annex 2 Social Hall.

Driven by their commitment to public service and community welfare, these future law enforcers embraced the opportunity to help save lives—one drop at a time. Their participation not only contributes to the life-saving mission of the campaign but also reflects the core values of service, empathy, and humanitarianism instilled in their criminology training.

This noble endeavor was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Mandaue City Police Office, Regional Maritime Unit 7, the Department of Health, and UCLM Cares.

On March 29, 2025, the Community Awareness, Relations, and Extension Services (CARES) of Criminology conducted a 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 (BLS) Training at UCLM, Annex 2 Building, Dojo Room. The training, facilitated by speakers from the 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (BDRRMO), highlighted Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and bandaging techniques. Through hands-on exercises, participants developed essential life-saving skills, reinforcing the role of CARES in promoting community safety and preparedness.

The UCLM College of Criminology has successfully concluded the Seminar-Workshop on 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, held on March 3-4, 2025. The event featured PLT Wilfredo Ator from the PNP Highway Patrol Group 7 as the esteemed resource speaker.

The first day focused on an in-depth lecture session, providing participants with essential theoretical knowledge on traffic laws, accident investigation procedures, and enforcement strategies. On the second day, students engaged in simulation exercises, applying their acquired skills in practical scenarios to enhance their investigative and decision-making abilities.

The overall champion of the seminar-workshop was Section 2C, followed by Sections 2A and 2B as second runners-up. All participants were second-year students enrolled in CDI 221 – Traffic Management and Accident Investigation, demonstrating their competence and dedication in mastering the subject.

The 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦, a vital initiative under the CARES Program, was successfully conducted at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM), Annex 1 Building, 7th Floor, Dojo Room. This program aimed to instill discipline, self-defense skills, and physical fitness among the Senior High School students who actively participated in the training sessions.

Led by Sir Mark Boize Cantillep, the clinic provided hands-on instruction in karate fundamentals, including basic stances, strikes, blocks, and self-defense techniques. The sessions emphasized not only physical strength but also mental resilience, respect, and character development, key values ingrained in martial arts.

Through this initiative, the CARES Program continues its commitment to holistic student development by promoting martial arts as a means of self-improvement, confidence-building, and community engagement. The program successfully fostered an environment where students could enhance their skills, discipline, and overall well-being while embracing the core principles of karate.

The 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 was successfully conducted today, February 26, 2025, at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM), Annex 1 Building, Old Audio-Visual Room. This significant event served as a platform for awareness, education, and proactive engagement in the fight against illegal drugs.

Organized by 𝐁𝐀𝐃 (Battle Against Drugs) in partnership with the DILG, PNP, PDEA, DepEd, CHED, and DARE, the symposium provided comprehensive discussions on the prevalence of drug-related issues, their societal impact, and effective prevention strategies.

The session emphasized values-based insights, focusing on the importance of making informed life choices, resisting peer pressure, and fostering personal growth. Experts and resource speakers from partner agencies shared real-life experiences, law enforcement efforts, rehabilitation programs, and community-based interventions aimed at addressing the drug menace.

Attended by students, faculty members, and stakeholders, the event underscored the critical role of education and community collaboration in creating a drug-free society. Through this initiative, UCLM and its partners reaffirm their commitment to empowering the youth with knowledge, resilience, and ethical decision-making to build a safer and healthier future.

After the devastating fire swept through Barangay Looc in January, leaving many families in despair, two students kept holding the line. 𝐔𝐂𝐋𝐌 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 extends its hands to offer relief amid hardship. Though it touched two souls, we hope to reach more in the future, spreading hope where it is needed most.
