𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗨𝗖𝗟𝗠 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵

On September 22, 2025, UCLM students filled the Annex 1 Quadrangle with one voice—demanding justice, accountability, and truth. What began as a rally against corruption became a powerful declaration that the youth will not be silenced.

With raised fists and unwavering conviction, students called on leaders to guard the nation’s hard-earned taxes and end the betrayal of public trust. The sight of hundreds standing shoulder to shoulder sent a clear message: a new generation is ready to rise, united for a just and honest society.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗽 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

The College of Criminology joined the World Clean Up Day on September 20, 2025, led by UCLM Cares together with Criminology interns, JPCAP, and student volunteers.

The college was assigned to clean at Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City, starting at 6:00 AM. Students worked hand in hand to collect and dispose of waste, showing their support for environmental care and community service.

The Junior Criminologist Publication conducted a courtesy call with College of Criminology Dean Dr. Paulino V. Pioquinto on September 19, 2025. The meeting focused on discussing the publication’s plans and goals for the academic year, with Dr. Pioquinto providing valuable suggestions and guidance as the publication’s consultant.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁’𝘀 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺

Criminology recently conducted its 7th Student’s Criminological Research Forum with the theme — “Researching today, transforming tomorrow” held at BE Auditorium on September 15, 2025. The forum garnered a total of 47 research presentations — 30 poster presentations and 17 oral presentations.

The research papers from the participants tackles subject matters highlighting crime prevention, law enforcement strategies, and community safety pointing evidence-based approaches and critical thinking in addressing modern criminological concerns. The recognition of outstanding researchers whose works stood out for their depth and relevance concluded the event.

The College of Criminology held its first annual general assembly, organized by the Junior Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (JPCAP), on September 17, 2025, at the Basic Education Auditorium, University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue. The event gathered criminology students from 1st to 3rd year and highlighted important updates, reminders, and achievements of the department.

The assembly featured year-level cheers, the introduction of officers from JPCAP, CARES, the Junior Criminologist, and the Big 4 of Class MASINTALAK, as well as announcements of achievements in the recently held research forum and the Japan Karate Association (JKA) competition. A raffle added excitement to the event. Dean Dr. Paulino V. Pioquinto proudly discussed the UCLM College of Criminology's 65.75% performance in the August 2025 Criminology Licensure Examination. Updates on upcoming activities, the clearance process, and department rules were also presented.

The event emphasized accountability and encouraged student participation in shaping the department’s culture and success.

The University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM), through its College of Criminology, proudly announces its performance in the August 2025 Criminology Licensure Examination (CLE), with an overall passing rate of 65.57%, producing a total of 61 new Registered Criminologists.

Of the 49 first-time takers, 37 successfully passed the examination, yielding a 75.51% passing rate. Among the 12 repeaters, 3 passed, resulting in a 25% passing rate.

This achievement reflects the College’s continued commitment to academic excellence and professional preparation in the field of criminology. The administration, faculty, and staff extend their heartfelt congratulations to the successful examinees for this significant milestone.

Making history once again, C/I COL FLOREY MAE BERNALES rises as the second woman to hold the prestigious position of Chief of Criminology Intern at the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue. After many years, the department once again has a woman at the helm—a milestone that reflects empowerment, resilience, and progress, and comes in time with the celebration of September as Women Empowerment Month.

C/I Col Bernales’ appointment is more than a return of women’s leadership in criminology; it is a symbol of breaking barriers in a field long dominated by men. Her achievement proves that women are not only capable but transformative, carrying the strength and vision to lead with excellence.

As Chief of Criminology Intern, she carries not just responsibility but also the pride of representing every woman who dares to step up, lead, and inspire future generations of UCLM criminology students to move forward with confidence and courage.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | Criminology Department Holds Parents Orientation

The Criminology Department held its Parents Orientation on September 6, 2025, at the BE Function Hall, University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue.

The activity briefed parents on the university’s policies, procedures, and services, covering topics such as enrollment, records, student accounting, library rules, and clinic services.

The event also underscored the important role of parents in guiding future criminologists, highlighting their support as a key factor in students’ academic success.

We extend our sincere congratulations to Ms. Margienett Terano Yosores for the successful completion of the Advanced Forensic Chemistry Specialization Course Part 2 (AFCSC2) during the 16th National Forensic Science Specialization Training, held from May 25 to June 1, 2025, at Brentwood Apartelle, Baguio City.

Ms. Yosores completed a total of 81.5 hours of intensive academic, technical, practical, and legal training in the field of forensic chemistry. She was also awarded the distinction of “Most Resilient Trainee” for her exemplary leadership, consistent engagement, and unwavering commitment throughout the course.

In recognition of her competence and dedication, Ms. Yosores is now officially certified as a Criminalistics Specialist in Advanced Forensic Chemistry by the Philippine Criminalistics Society, Inc. (PHILSCI).

We commend Ms. Yosores for her outstanding achievement and continued contribution to the advancement of forensic science in the Philippines.
