BARK UPDATES | Bulldogs unite for UAAP Season 88 send-off

It's a night of unity and school pride as National University held its annual athletes send-off for UAAP Season 88 at the Mall of Asia Music Hall on Thursday, September 4.

Proudly carrying the colors of gold and blue, Bulldogs came together in full force for the traditional parade of athletes, highlighting the sports prowess of the University.

A historic moment also unfolded during the program as Bella Belen’s Jersey No. 4 was officially retired to honor the generational talent of the first-ever Rookie of the Year x MVP in the Women's Division and a rare three-time MVP.

Adding energy to the celebration, the NU Pep Squad and NU Dance Company set the stage on fire as they showcased their trademark routines. The celebration capped off with a special treat from Hey June and DJ Chad Arcilla, leaving everyone on a high note.

With the Bulldogs officially sent off, all eyes now turn to September 19, as the much-anticipated UAAP Season 88 opening ceremony will commence at UST.

The NU Bulldogs barked as loudly as the drumbeats at the MOA Arena on Thursday, September 4, during this year’s PEP Rally, proving that National University is all set for the UAAP Season 88.
‎
The NU Squadron and NU Dance Company kicked off the night with their exceptional performances, keeping the crowd electrified.
‎
But the highlight came when the NU Cheerleading Team took the mats. With their powerful moves and high-flying stunts in the air, they dominated the arena, leaving the entire NU community and athletes not only entertained but also fueled with fighting spirit.
‎
Adding to the night’s history, NU held its first-ever jersey retirement ceremony for the veteran volleyball star Bella Belen, honoring her iconic jersey number four.
‎
The celebration ended on a high note as the bulldogs cheered once more during the after-party, leaving the enthusiasm and excitement in the air.
‎

National University PEP Rally 2025 kicks off today, September 4, at the SM MOA Music Hall.
‎
An event attended by approximately 83,000 Nationalians, it is meant to showcase the enthusiasm each of the UAAP participating universities has, highlighting the different chants and cheers. This has been a tradition to send off athletes before the formal games of every new season begin.
‎

NU strikes gold in Taekwondo, Cabalo sprints to Silver finish🥋🏃💨

The National University jins turned up the volume and delivered full-impact performances at the recently held National Interschool Taekwondo Championship at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Manila — with Kyurogi on August 23–24, 2025, Poomsae on August 31, 2025, and on the track, Bulldog sprinter John Lloyd Cabalo blazing through the 2025 All Comers Meet 3 in Singapore last August 31, 2025.
‎
Cabalo sprinted his way to a Rank 2 finish in the 400m dash, clocking in an impressive 48.30 seconds. Another winning track in NU’s growing playlist of victories.
‎
In Kyurogi, the gold-and-blue squad was on repeat mode as they dominated both the Overall Championship in both the Senior and Junior Divisions, stacking up a medal haul of 9 golds, 3 silvers, and 3 bronzes.
‎
Meanwhile, in Poomsae, the Bulldogs turned the mats into their own stage with their no skip performances and secured the Overall Championship in the Senior Division and a strong 2nd Runner-Up finish in the Junior Division, collecting 4 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes.
‎
From mats to track, you’ve made the whole NU community proud. 💛💙
