But honestly? Let’s talk about it. ☕️
Six years ago, I was just trying to figure out what “virtual assistant” actually meant. I remember the sheer panic of sending my first cover letter, the imposter syndrome that felt like a shadow, and the absolute thrill of landing that very first client and the fact that I was only borrowing my uncle’s old laptop just to get by… 🥹 Back then, people told me the market was “too saturated” and that it wasn’t a sustainable career.
If you’re an aspiring VA sitting there wondering the exact same thing today—stop overthinking. The truth is, businesses will always need reliable, proactive help. You don’t need to know everything on day one. You just need the willingness to learn, a stable internet connection, and the grit to keep pitching.
For those of us who have been in this game for years, it’s wild to look back and see how much the industry has changed. Remember when we had to explain to our families what we did for a living, and they thought we were just “screwing around on the computer” (pindot-pindot lang) ? 😆
But in reality, we are basically acting as the backbone of global businesses. We’ve survived algorithm changes, the rise of AI, client ghosting, and the evolution of our own boundaries—like finally learning to turn off Slack notifications on weekends. (or whatnot)
Whether you’ve been doing this for 6 days or 6 years, this industry changes your life if you let it. It’s not always aesthetic workspaces and working from the beach—most days it’s messy buns, emails, deadlines, and cold coffee. But I wouldn’t trade the freedom for anything. (unless tumama na ko sa lotto haha)
So, I’m thinking of finally opening up the vault and sharing the real, unglamorous journey of how I survived and thrived for 6 years in this game if you guys are up to! 😌
