Pork Giniling with Quail Eggs Recipe (Filipino dish)
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 onion, peeled and chopped
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1 pound ground pork
1 tablespoon fish sauce (or soy sauce to taste)
1 cup tomato sauce
½ cup water
1 large potato, peeled and diced
1 large carrot, peeled and diced
½ cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
12-15 quail eggs, boiled and peeled
1 tablespoon banana ketchup (optional, for sweetness)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Sauté Aromatics: Heat oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until softened and fragrant.
Cook Pork: Add ground pork and cook, breaking it into pieces, until it turns light brown.
Add Seasoning and Sauce: Stir in fish sauce (or soy sauce), tomato sauce, and water. Bring to a simmer.
Add Vegetables: Add potatoes and carrots. Cook until they are almost tender.
Incorporate Quail Eggs and Peas: Gently stir in the boiled quail eggs and green peas. If using, add banana ketchup for a hint of sweetness.
Simmer and Season: Simmer for a few more minutes until the vegetables are tender and the sauce has thickened slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve: Serve hot with steamed rice.
