Bro. Kendrick Ivan Panganiban, Lay Secretary of ACSP - Association of Catholic Shrines and Pilgrimages of the Philippines delivered a catechesis on the Spiritual Twinning of the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (PIHM), Taktak in Antipolo City with the Franciscan Church of the First Miracle at Cana, also known as the Franciscan Wedding Church, last May 28, 2026.

The talk highlighted the spiritual significance of this sacred bond, fostering a deeper communion between the two faith communities through prayer, pilgrimage, shared devotion, and a renewed appreciation of the biblical mystery of the Wedding at Cana.

The catechesis emphasized that spiritual twinning is not merely a symbolic partnership but a living expression of the Churchโ€™s universal communion, bringing communities together in faith and strengthening their common mission of evangelization.

On August 8, 2026, The National Shrine of St. Joseph in Mandaue City, Cebu joyfully celebrates its 25th or Silver Anniversary, commemorating a quarter century of grace, faith, and devotion since its establishment as a national sanctuary for the Josephian devotion in 2001.

For twenty-five years, the shrine has stood as a significant center of pilgrimage and prayer, drawing countless faithful who seek the paternal intercession of Saint Joseph, the humble guardian of the Holy Family and faithful protector of the Church. Through its pastoral mission, liturgical celebrations, and enduring devotion to the Patron of Workers, Fathers, Families, and the Universal Church, the shrine continues to lead pilgrims toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and a greater appreciation of the virtues of humility, obedience, fidelity, and loving service.

As it marks this meaningful milestone, the Silver Anniversary becomes an occasion of thanksgiving for the countless blessings received through the years and a renewed commitment to carry forward its mission as a sacred home of prayer, hope, and devotion for generations to come.

Our pilgrimage journey through the sacred places of the Philippines continues as we travel to the highlands of Northern Luzon, where faith is deeply rooted in the life and witness of local Christian communities. At St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Pacdal Circle, Baguio City, we reflect on the dignity of labor and the quiet holiness of Saint Joseph, who faithfully served God through humility, dedication, and love. In his example for married couples, we are reminded that every task, when offered to the Lord, becomes an act of prayer and a path toward holiness.

Our pilgrimage then leads us to the mountains of Nueva Vizcaya, to St. Dominic Cathedral Parish in Bayombong, where we are inspired by the enduring witness of Saint Dominic and his zeal for proclaiming the truth of the Gospel just as the Dominican missionaries did in these grounds. Within this sacred cathedral, we give thanks for the faith that continues to unite generations and strengthen the Churchโ€™s mission.

The Portiuncula Indulgence is a special spiritual grace closely connected with St. Francis of Assisi and the little chapel of the Portiuncula, or โ€œLittle Portion,โ€ in Assisi, Italy. According to Franciscan tradition, while St. Francis was praying in the chapel in 1216, he asked the Lord to grant a full pardon to all who would sincerely repent, confess their sins, and visit the sacred place. This request was granted and later confirmed by Pope Honorius III.

Today, all the faithful may obtain the Portiuncula Indulgence on August 2, the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels of the Portiuncula, by devoutly visiting a designated church (cathedral, basilica, shrine or parish), praying the Our Father and the Creed, praying for the intentions of the Pope, receiving Sacramental Confession and Holy Communion, and being sincerely detached from all sin, even venial sin. When all the conditions are fulfilled, the indulgence is plenary, meaning that it remits all temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven; it may be applied to oneself or offered for a soul in Purgatory.

The Portiuncula Indulgence is therefore a profound expression of Godโ€™s mercy, inviting the faithful to conversion, reconciliation, prayer, and renewed holiness.
