The researchers assessed the cognitive efficacy of a 20-minute walk on a group of children.
I find this fascinating.
Exercise significantly improved the performance of reading comprehension.
Though not statistically significant, spelling and arithmetic performance did improve.
In summation,
"Recent research has shown that moderate aerobic exercise can help improve cognitive control of attention, which in turn can lead to better academic performance."
Furthermore, the paper concludes:
"These data suggest that single instances of exercise apprehension target and improve specific processes which undergird cognitive health and may be integral for effective function across the lifespan."

Hence, I advocate for increased pedestrianism.
By improving your:
Physical health. You have to take care of your body if you want to live a long and healthy life. But itโs not the only thing that matters.
Cognitive performance. That makes a person successful.
Mental health. Take care of your mind, just like you take care of your body. Otherwise, youโre not going to be able to function at your best.
Creativity. Itโs nice to be able to come up with new ideas, but at the end of the day, itโs all about ex*****on.
These steps are simple, free unlock for life.
Just donโt tell anyone I gave it to you, because Iโm not supposed to be giving away free stuff.
I began to walk tenfold more in 2022 after the advent of our son.
I wanted to be able to keep up with him and have some energy left over at the end of the day.
And itโs led to some interesting places.
Iโve seen some things.
Things that you wouldnโt believe.
Since May of 2022, I've been averaging around 2,000 steps per day
I have two types of walks: those where I think about stuff, and those where I donโt. I like both kinds.
Active Walks:
โข Call it daydreaming, if you will, but contemplation has a strange way of focusing the mind.
โข Half to one hour.
โข Tempo
Passive Walks:
โข Technological Cessation.
โข Unfettered cognition
โข 1+ hour
โข Unhurried pace
Each one gives me a different set of skills and knowledge that I need in order to succeed.
Iโm not a big fan of active walking, but if I have to do it, Iโd rather do it at Zone 2 HR level.
And if youโre looking to get to that level, I suggest you wear a weight vest. Itโll make it a lot easier.
The experts say that you should spend at least 180 minutes per week on physical activity, and this allows me to do that easily.
I donโt usually recommend things, but if thereโs one thing I recommend, itโs active walking. Itโs a great way to stay connected and itโs really handy.
I used to getter a TERRIBLE bout of drowsiness after lunch.
But then I realized that it was just my body telling me to take a nap. So, I started taking naps and now I feel great!
I started taking a 10-minute walk immediately after eating and it has worked wonders for keeping my energy steady into the afternoon.
I donโt know how or why it works, but it does.
This new coffee is way more effective than the large black cold brew I used to rely on for that purpose.
Sรธren Kierkegaard was a Danish philosopher.
I think he was onto something when he said that every day, we should walk ourselves into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness.
We should also walk ourselves into our best thoughts, knowing that no thought is so burdensome that we can't walk away from it.
This research just proves how stupid it is to punish children by taking away their recess for bad behavior.
If theyโre not paying attention in class, then thatโs their own problem.
But taking away recess is just going to make them hate school even more.
Listen. I know the school system is punishing you by making you do work, but that just makes it more likely for you to continue to suffer.
Focus on your science, and donโt let the system get you down.
Recess is a sacred time for children, and even adults.
Itโs a time to let loose, have fun, and be a kid again.
So, treasure it while you can, because it doesnโt last forever.
A simple challenge for all of you. That's it. That's the challenge.
This weekend, go for a 30-minute tech-free walk.
Just disconnect from the world and enjoy the peace and quiet. Itโll do you some good, I promise.
No phone. You know the rules.
You donโt need music. Itโs just a bunch of noise that gets in the way of your thoughts.
No podcasts!
Ugh, no articles.
No audiobooks!
Just you, your thoughts, your gratitude, and the fresh air.
Thatโs all you need
And maybe a little bit of music to set the mood.
But thatโs it. Just you and your thoughts.
Nothing else matters.
This is a simple reset that will change your life.
I guarantee it.
