Thomasians return to UST SHS with tighter entry checks
By Christian Florenz Dumon
University of Santo Tomas - Senior High School (UST SHS) officially opened the first day of regular classes for the Academic Year 2025-2026 on Tuesday, August 12, at the Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati Building, marking the formal start of in-person learning for Grade 11 and 12 students.
Security personnel conducted mandatory bag checks before entry to the Frassati Building, saying the inspection is part of the school’s commitment to maintaining a secure learning environment.
Robin Martin from 11-STEM14 said the inspection made him feel secure, “Bag checking is an important asset to guaranteeing a safe and stress-free environment in this building, and it deeply extends outwards throughout the campus.” He also added that he was excited to start his Thomasian journey and looks forward to meeting new classmates, exploring new subjects, and joining school events.
Classes will continue through the week, with Wednesday, August 13, set for the first homeroom session of the school year. The two-hour session will focus on getting-to-know activities among students, orientation with advisers, and a discussion of the school handbook before regular classes resume.
