Same design, different results. 😔
I told my students during my last crochet workshop how counting is important in crochet (yeah! There's math in crochet 😅)
The bigger placemat on the left started with 12 double crochet in round, while the smaller one with just 10.
Aside from the size, the difference on the edgings of two placemats is also noticeable- the smaller one can't be flattened.
So, one tip when following a crochet pattern: count your stitches! It's all worth it at the end of your project 😉
