NEWS ALERT: Isko Moreno announces ₱243.4M payout for PWDs, solo parents, and DSWD-listed seniors starting December 11
Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso on Wednesday, December 10, announced the rollout of ₱243.4 million in social assistance for persons with disabilities (PWDs), solo parents, and senior citizens listed under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) social pension program.
In a Facebook Live address, Domagoso said the three-day release beginning Thursday, December 11, is meant to ease household expenses and clear the city’s outstanding obligations to vulnerable sectors.
_Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)_
For PWDs, the city will distribute a ₱500-per-month allowance covering July and August 2025, benefiting 46,764 adult PWDs and 9,622 minors.
The Mayor explained that improved fiscal space allowed the local government to update older obligations, releasing a total of ₱55,898,000 for the sector.
_Solo Parents_
Solo parents will likewise receive ₱500 per month for the same two-month period, with 30,788 beneficiaries set to gain from an allocation of ₱15,548,500.
"Sa ating mga mabubuting ina, mabubuting ama na solong nagpapalaki ng kanilang mga anak, we are proud of you," Domagoso said.
_DSWD-listed Senior Citizens_
The largest release will go to 28,364 senior citizens included in the DSWD’s social pension list, totaling ₱171.975 million.
Domagoso said the national government already transmitted the funds to Manila, and he opted to release them immediately to provide seniors with added support during the holiday season.
_Distribution Details_
Distribution for barangay representatives will run from December 11 to 13 across six districts, with designated venues such as Rosario Almario Elementary School (District 1), Florentino Torres High School (District 2), Barangay 288 Multipurpose Hall (District 3), Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School (District 4), San Andres Sports Complex (District 5), and the Santa Ana Elementary School Covered Court (District 6).
Only authorized barangay officials—chairs, treasurers, or secretaries—may claim the funds, which will then be released directly to beneficiaries at their respective barangay halls starting the same day.
"Uulitin ko po ha: Ang kukuha po nito sa mga nasabing area ay yung awtorisado ng barangay—si Chairman, si Treasurer, o Secretary, kung sino man ang awtorisado sa kanila. Dadalhin sa kanya-kanyang barangay at dun na mismo po ibibigay sa inyo, sa inyong kanya-kanyang Barangay Hall," Domagoso said.
"Claims will be at the barangay starting the date of release. Total amount po na ire-release natin sa loob ng tatlong araw is ₱243,403,500. Ayan po, so sa mga Solo Parent, PWD, at mga listed Senior Citizen ng DSWD, bukas na magsisimula. Hayahay ang buhay! Masaya ako para sa inyo," he added.
_Noche Buena food boxes_
Domagoso also reported that the city has delivered Noche Buena food boxes to more than 400 barangays and has begun distributing his personal Christmas gifts for seniors: small cookies, a lightweight tumbler, and a portable medicine box he personally selected to help elderly residents track their maintenance medication.
He said the item was designed to fit easily in pockets or bags, ensuring seniors can bring their medicines anywhere.
