Caren Kate Cu is a Business Coach and a professional resource speaker focusing on Social Entrepreneurship. She ones asked me ... What do you think would happen if we create more FILIPINO ENTREPRENEURS instead of OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS?

I believe that it will be a healthy discussion if I post this topic as an Admin so that many will be notified and members of this site can react.

To make the topic more inviting, I rephrase it as ... Do you think Filipinos are capable of being effective Entrepreneurs? If no, why? If yes, how does Juan Dela Cruz go about it? What are the benefits? What do you think?

Many ask me if I believe that Filipinos need to put up picket signs to create change? In the context of their statement, they are referring to Change in Governance. I believe that Picket Signs is a component of such "cry", but we need to do other actions. Can you give your opinion on this subject and maybe likewise give other necessary actions to instil "Change in Governance in the Philippines"?

This Photo Album contain things I have seen during the All Saints Day Celebration at the Manila North Cemetery. I've seen enterprising Pinoy in action. I salute and extend my warmest felicitation to these Juan Dela Cruzes who in one way or another find decent livelihood in the midst of this unique way of celebrating our All Saints Day.

Juan Dela Cruz is symbolically used in the Philippines to represent the "Filipino". The name is roughly the equivalent of the American Uncle Sam and John Doe. Juan DelaCruz is usually depicted wearing the native Salakot hat, Barong Tagalog, long pants, and slippers (called Tsinelas in Filipino). The term Juan Dela Cruz is also used when referring to the collective Filipino psyche. The terminology was coined by Robert McCulloch Dick, a Scottish-born journalist working for the Manila Times in the early 1900s, after discovering it was the most common name in blotters.

The name is Spanish which translates to "John of the Cross". The majority of Filipinos have acquired Spanish surnames largely due to more than 400 years of Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines. The Roman Catholic Church also plays an important role in the naming of a child, with almost every other baby baptized and named after a saint. San Juan Dela Cruz was a Spanish mystic and Doctor of the Church; a leading figure in the Catholic Reformation.

Activists often call Juan Dela Cruz a victim of American imperialism, especially since most editorial cartoons of the American era often depicted Juan Dela Cruz along with Uncle Sam.

Today October 25, 2010 is a Non-Working Holiday because it’s Barangay and SK Elections day. Here are some scenes I’ve captured with my camera to show all of you which are people oriented photos. I’ve seen Elections in the United States and our ways are really different. Any Filipino who has exercised this Right of Suffrage here in the Philippines can attest to that.
