The much-anticipated EARIST TECHNOZETTE and THE CHAMPION officially kicked off its first day of seminar and workshop with an exciting blend of excitement, and eagerness to learn. It is held at the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) Amphitheater, the event brought together publication students from both Manila and Cavite campus under one roof to explore and learn more about journalism, creativity, photo journalism, and media literacy.
The program opened with a prayer and singing our Philippine National Anthem. The Opening Remarks of Dr. Eric C. Mendoza, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Inspirational Message of Dr. Rogelio T. Mamaradlo, President of our Institute was read and delivered by Professor Angela Caaya delightfully. Their message set the tone for a day filled with insightful discussions and hands-on activities.
The Seminar and Workshop last July 5, 2025 was divided into three (3) parts. The first guest speaker is Mr. Romnick Cielos. The seminar session that is tackled by Mr. Cielos was the Republic Act 7079 also known as The Campus Journalism Act of 1991. The seminar was fun for all of us. As learners, we were very eager and curious to learn new things, especially about journalism and how it can help us, publication, in the future.
The next session which is the creative writing training and workshop led by our guest speaker Ms. Jenny Lee-Bonto, was full of new experiences and we really enjoyed it! We wrote stories BUT… with a TWIST! Writing a story? Nothing new. But writing a story’s first line only was new to us then our co-members will finished it by writing only one line, one by one. We share it in front because we all shared information of that finished story. The laughter filled the amphitheater was priceless. The workshop by Ms. Jenny was really exciting and interactive.
Seminar-Workshop on photojournalism and media literacy was the last session led by our guest speaker, Mr. Austin Garcia. Mr. Austin, a professional photojournalist, shared an amazing stories about his experiences. The presentation of the photos was amazing. It was a meaningful and eye-opening experience for us. It really gave us a deeper understanding about the photos that we are taking and how powerful of media and photos can be in telling stories and expression.
Throughout the day, Technozette and The Champion were actively engaging in Q&A portions. Hearing stories from professionals who already work in the publication industry was fun and educational at the same time. We all left the amphitheater feeling inspired, motivated, and excited for the next session of our seminar and workshop.
