We concluded our Training and Seminar for Student Publication 2025 with an exciting event! Publication students from both Manila’s EARIST TECHNOZETTE and Cavite’s THE CHAMPION gathered once again. The seminar and workshop took place at the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) Amphitheater. The session began with a prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Ms. Agnes F. Amorin, the Director of Student Affairs and Services, then delivered the Opening Remarks, inspiring everyone in the EARIST Amphitheater.

The Seminar and Workshop were divided into two parts. Our first guest speaker, Atty. Solfia Arboladura, led a successful discussion on Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Information, broadening our understanding of these vital topics. Let’s continue to advocate for truth, transparency, and the right to voice out! The second speaker, Mr. Romnick Cielos, focused on Sports Writing and News Writing, helping us improve our skills in capturing action and reporting facts effectively.
See you again for more trainings and seminar!

The much-anticipated EARIST TECHNOZETTE and THE CHAMPION officially kicked off its first day of seminar and workshop with an exciting blend of excitement, and eagerness to learn. It is held at the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) Amphitheater, the event brought together publication students from both Manila and Cavite campus under one roof to explore and learn more about journalism, creativity, photo journalism, and media literacy.

The program opened with a prayer and singing our Philippine National Anthem. The Opening Remarks of Dr. Eric C. Mendoza, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Inspirational Message of Dr. Rogelio T. Mamaradlo, President of our Institute was read and delivered by Professor Angela Caaya delightfully. Their message set the tone for a day filled with insightful discussions and hands-on activities.

The Seminar and Workshop last July 5, 2025 was divided into three (3) parts. The first guest speaker is Mr. Romnick Cielos. The seminar session that is tackled by Mr. Cielos was the Republic Act 7079 also known as The Campus Journalism Act of 1991. The seminar was fun for all of us. As learners, we were very eager and curious to learn new things, especially about journalism and how it can help us, publication, in the future.

The next session which is the creative writing training and workshop led by our guest speaker Ms. Jenny Lee-Bonto, was full of new experiences and we really enjoyed it! We wrote stories BUT… with a TWIST! Writing a story? Nothing new. But writing a story’s first line only was new to us then our co-members will finished it by writing only one line, one by one. We share it in front because we all shared information of that finished story. The laughter filled the amphitheater was priceless. The workshop by Ms. Jenny was really exciting and interactive.

Seminar-Workshop on photojournalism and media literacy was the last session led by our guest speaker, Mr. Austin Garcia. Mr. Austin, a professional photojournalist, shared an amazing stories about his experiences. The presentation of the photos was amazing. It was a meaningful and eye-opening experience for us. It really gave us a deeper understanding about the photos that we are taking and how powerful of media and photos can be in telling stories and expression.

Throughout the day, Technozette and The Champion were actively engaging in Q&A portions. Hearing stories from professionals who already work in the publication industry was fun and educational at the same time. We all left the amphitheater feeling inspired, motivated, and excited for the next session of our seminar and workshop.

Today, June 12, 2025, is the 127th anniversary of Philippine Independence. This year's theme, "Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan", reminds us of the profound sacrifices made for the freedom we now have.

Our "Kalayaan" was brought by the bravery of countless heroes, both known and unknown. well-known heroes like Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Jacinto, Gregorio Del Pilar, Antonio Luna, and Melchora Aquino led the fight against colonial rule. But many other unnamed Filipinos also contributed significantly. These acts of courage have shaped our national identity, defined by a constant pursuit of freedom.

When we think about our 'Kasaysayan' which shaped our 'Kalayaan' for our 'Kinabukasan' is not merely to recall the past, rather as a responsibility to engage in building a just and humane future. To keep our future from repeating a past of oppression and inequality, this would keep us vigilant! For us to allow the next generation to discovers itself how we have already imagined it today; a true nation of freedom & sovereignty.

It's time to rewrite the rules. Men's Mental Health Awareness Month is putting away old stereotypes blocking millions of men into silence and suffering. This is not just awareness but a movement.

From barbers to the boardroom, communities are making space for conversations that bring forth the whole idea of vulnerability as an ultimate win.

The message stands: Your mental health matters. Asking for help is not just okay. It is powerful. Join the revolution that shows real strength means real conversations.
