Last night, we experienced a frightening moment as a family.
While bathing my kids, I prepared the room and plugged in the insect repellent and the aircon. When we entered the room later, I noticed that the plugs had been interchanged. I asked who had done it, and my daughter honestly admitted that she did.
As we were getting ready to sleep, my 6-year-old daughter began complaining of pain in her tongue. I asked her to drink water, but even that made it sting. Within minutes, her nose started to burn, then her eyes, until she said her whole face felt like it was on fire.
We soon realized the cause. The mosquito repellent had leaked, and she was unaware of it. Like any child, she had unintentionally touched her mouth, nose, and eyes.
Before rushing to the hospital, we immediately did first aid. She wanted to stay under the running water, as it was the only thing that gave her relief from the burning sensation.
But in the middle of her pain, something happened that moved me deeply.
She looked at me and said, “Mom, let’s pray. Let’s call on Jesus.”
Then she called for her dad and said, “Daddy, please pray for me.”
That moment filled my heart with gratitude.
Our children are always watching us. They hear us. They learn not only from what we say, but from how we respond in moments of fear and crisis. Our walk of faith—lived out daily at home—quietly takes root in their hearts.
She’s okay now—back to being the noisy, art-loving child we know and love.
Praise God for His protection, His presence, and the faith He is growing in our children.đź’•
