Cartoon Network issued a statement clarifying that rumors of the network or its studio SHUTTING DOWN ARE UNTRUE.
"Cartoon Network would like to clarify that there is no truth to the speculation that the network or the studio is shutting down. With a number of recently announced greenlights, we remain committed to continually investing in innovative content that entertains and inspires our viewers across the globe," the company stated.
❓ SO WHERE DID COME FROM?
The hashtag was started by Animation Workers Ignited who claimed in a Tweet posted on July 9 that “Cartoon Network is essentially dead” and “other big animation studios are not far behind.” They shed light on the layoffs happening in the animation industry and, in an effort to spread the word, asked everyone to share their favorite defunct Cartoon Network shows.
The long and short of it is that the rumors aren’t true. Cartoon Network released a statement explaining that neither the network nor the studio will be closing its doors and that it actually has plenty of projects lined up for all the kids and kids-at-heart around the globe.
