|| Leaders in Sync: The iTamaraw Spirit Resonates at ALTS 2025

Student leaders from FEU Alabang, FEU Diliman, and FEU Tech stepped into the greenery of Shercon Resort and Ecology Park, Batangas, on August 31 for this year’s Annual Leadership Training and Seminar (ALTS) 2025. Organized by the Student Activities and Development Office (SADO), the day buzzed with energy as participants immersed themselves in dynamic team-building activities, bringing the iTamaraw spirit of leadership to life across campuses.

Delivering the opening message, Mr. Marlon O. Maglipas, Director of SADO, reminded participants that while the first two days of ALTS focused on knowledge acquisition and community development, the final session was devoted to strengthening camaraderie through teamwork. He encouraged student leaders to make the most of the opportunity to connect with peers from each campus.

To highlight interaction and collaboration, participants were organized into groups of eight, blending student leaders from the three campuses, FEU ADT. These teams then took part in a sequence of challenges that tested their ability to strategize, communicate, and build trust.

The day began with the Maze Game, where strategies were put to the test. Nathanael “Nigel” Gerard Ragasa, President of FEUASCC from FEU Alabang, shared how his group navigated the challenge: “Our strategy was to form a caterpillar, then split when we saw multiple paths. Some stayed to block while others scouted ahead, reporting back on which routes worked. That helped us find the way through.” His reflection captured the ingenuity and cooperation that set the tone for the day.

The rest of the session featured a series of activities designed to spark creativity, strengthen problem-solving, and encourage synergy. From trust-building games to relay-style challenges, every task highlighted how strategy and unity were key to success. Laughter, cheers, and shared effort filled the venue as students worked together to overcome each hurdle.

By the end of the program, the activities had become more than just games—they became avenues to build trust, forge stronger bonds, and celebrate solidarity. The true victory belonged to all three campuses, FEU ADT, whose student leaders stood not as separate institutions but as one united community. The team-building day reflected the heart of ALTS: sustaining innovation and impact in student leadership through shared experiences and growth.

The culmination of ALTS 2025 reaffirmed its mission of empowering student leaders, advancing collaboration, and cultivating the values of service, leadership, and excellence. Through knowledge, community, and teamwork, the iTamaraws carried home not only memories but also a deeper understanding of what it means to lead together.

|| Beyond the Classroom: SADO's ALTS Shapes Tomorrow's Leaders from FEU ADT Campuses

Student leaders from FEU Alabang, FEU Diliman, and FEU Institute of Technology convened for the Student Activities and Development Office (SADO)'s Annual Leadership Training and Seminar last Friday, August 29, 2025. The first two days of the event, which concludes on August 31, were designed to cultivate knowledge and foster collaboration among participants.

Althea Regina Sanguenza, the Vice President for Internal of the Mechanical Engineering Chain of Societies (MECHS), highlighted the event's potential for network growth. She stated that the activities will encourage the org members to step out of their comfort zones, mingle with other leaders, and meet new people. "Dahil don," she added "[...]mas matututo tayo sa ibang tao.”

On the other hand, Csypres Klent "CK" Ornos, the PRO of the FEU Tech ACM Student Chapter, recalled the most memorable part of the last ALTS 2024. "Since yung ALTS last time is more on bonding ng tatlong campuses—Alabang, Diliman, and Tech," he started. "I think one of it, is yung mga activities which is, na-test po yung [like] leadership, kung paano namin i-lead yung group namin." Ornos noted that he found the competitions like the boat and crawling challenge to be the most engaging part of last year's ALTS.

Ornos's expectations for this year's ALTS are centered on a similar outcome. He stated that he looks forward to "build more connection with other- hindi lang internally dito sa other RSOs, but also with Alabang and Diliman.” He reminisced about the way he got to interact with students from both campuses when they were put together as roommates, reinforcing his hope for a similar, cross-campus experience.

With these expectations set high, the seminar immediately began with its agenda for Day 1: Knowledge Acquisition. Participants engaged in a series of sessions led by Ralph Jacinto Quiblat, who introduced the concept of transformative leadership by embracing change and adapting to new realities. John Wilmer Jimenez, another facilitator, focused on expounding the idea that leadership today is uniquely different than before due to the accessibility of technology. Mr. Jimenez ended his session by stating that “true collaboration starts with emotional intelligence—you understand yourself and others; you can navigate group dynamically.”

After a day dedicated to intellectual growth, the seminar shifted into its second day with a new focus: community building. The agenda was to move participants from gaining individual knowledge to fostering collective collaboration. To kick off the day, FEU Tech student leaders greeted students from Dr. Benigno Aldana Elementary School with a lively ice-breaker. The game, a spirited adaptation of rock-paper-scissors, challenged the children to navigate an obstacle course before competing against an opposing team.

It was an effective prelude to the two group activities that the green and gold community prepared for these youths. The children were divided into eight groups led by the student leaders. In the first activity, they had the chance to showcase their creativity by sharing what they wanted to improve in their school, community, and country. The second activity continued after the student leaders and the children shared a meal together. Members of the Artist Connection (AC), FEU Tech’s homegrown dancers and singers, were distributed into the eight groups. Their mission was to lead them into making a short dance presentation they will perform before the day ends.

"I think one of it, is yung mga activities which is, na-test po yung [like] leadership, kung paano namin i-lead yung group namin." Ornos noted that he found the competitions, like the boat and crawling challenge, to be the most engaging part of last year's ALTS.

25/08/2025

Freedom is a right built upon the blood and bones of millions.

“The Cry awoke Balintawak, and the echoes answered back; Freedom!”

Most of these cries have been forgotten to time, their names lost in the annals of history.

You and I go about our day-to-day lives with the privilege of expressing, living, and loving freely. One could almost be forgiven for forgetting the blood spilled for our freedom and rights.

Heroes are remembered; their names etched into history books as valiant and brave, forever immortalized.
But is history really so kind?

Is the name of an everyday rice farmer, who took up arms against the Spaniards and fell soon after, remembered by us today? Are their efforts, their hardships, their lives honored and written down to be forever known as heroes?

Most heroes aren’t remembered. Most heroes aren’t larger-than-life beings.
They are the farmers who picked up an iták against the Spaniards.
They are the oppressed who stood against discrimination.
They are the healthcare workers who labor, day and night without proper compensation.

“Even the children and the old took to arms and shouted bold, “Freedom!””

These are heroes whose names will never be remembered.

Heroes who are like you and I.

And yet, every year on the last Monday of August, we are called to take the time to recognize these unsung heroes for their cries, their hardship and sacrifices all for the sake of those who will never even know their names.

Remembering their bravery and perseverance, echoed in the words of Aurelio Alvero’s The Cry Awoke Balintawak:
“All the people raised the cry, fearing not to bleed or die.”
