|| Beyond the Classroom: SADO's ALTS Shapes Tomorrow's Leaders from FEU ADT Campuses
Student leaders from FEU Alabang, FEU Diliman, and FEU Institute of Technology convened for the Student Activities and Development Office (SADO)'s Annual Leadership Training and Seminar last Friday, August 29, 2025. The first two days of the event, which concludes on August 31, were designed to cultivate knowledge and foster collaboration among participants.
Althea Regina Sanguenza, the Vice President for Internal of the Mechanical Engineering Chain of Societies (MECHS), highlighted the event's potential for network growth. She stated that the activities will encourage the org members to step out of their comfort zones, mingle with other leaders, and meet new people. "Dahil don," she added "[...]mas matututo tayo sa ibang tao.”
On the other hand, Csypres Klent "CK" Ornos, the PRO of the FEU Tech ACM Student Chapter, recalled the most memorable part of the last ALTS 2024. "Since yung ALTS last time is more on bonding ng tatlong campuses—Alabang, Diliman, and Tech," he started. "I think one of it, is yung mga activities which is, na-test po yung [like] leadership, kung paano namin i-lead yung group namin." Ornos noted that he found the competitions like the boat and crawling challenge to be the most engaging part of last year's ALTS.
Ornos's expectations for this year's ALTS are centered on a similar outcome. He stated that he looks forward to "build more connection with other- hindi lang internally dito sa other RSOs, but also with Alabang and Diliman.” He reminisced about the way he got to interact with students from both campuses when they were put together as roommates, reinforcing his hope for a similar, cross-campus experience.
With these expectations set high, the seminar immediately began with its agenda for Day 1: Knowledge Acquisition. Participants engaged in a series of sessions led by Ralph Jacinto Quiblat, who introduced the concept of transformative leadership by embracing change and adapting to new realities. John Wilmer Jimenez, another facilitator, focused on expounding the idea that leadership today is uniquely different than before due to the accessibility of technology. Mr. Jimenez ended his session by stating that “true collaboration starts with emotional intelligence—you understand yourself and others; you can navigate group dynamically.”
After a day dedicated to intellectual growth, the seminar shifted into its second day with a new focus: community building. The agenda was to move participants from gaining individual knowledge to fostering collective collaboration. To kick off the day, FEU Tech student leaders greeted students from Dr. Benigno Aldana Elementary School with a lively ice-breaker. The game, a spirited adaptation of rock-paper-scissors, challenged the children to navigate an obstacle course before competing against an opposing team.
It was an effective prelude to the two group activities that the green and gold community prepared for these youths. The children were divided into eight groups led by the student leaders. In the first activity, they had the chance to showcase their creativity by sharing what they wanted to improve in their school, community, and country. The second activity continued after the student leaders and the children shared a meal together. Members of the Artist Connection (AC), FEU Tech’s homegrown dancers and singers, were distributed into the eight groups. Their mission was to lead them into making a short dance presentation they will perform before the day ends.
