iTAMREADY 2025: Strengthening Disaster Resilience Through Innovation and Youth Empowerment
The iTAMREADY: Technologies and Innovations for Disaster Resilience Exposition was successfully held on July 9–10, 2025, at the 17th Floor FEU Tech Gymnasium, bringing together students, youth leaders, educators, and DRRM advocates from various schools. Organized by the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of FEU Institute of Technology (FEU Tech), the two-day event aligned with the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month, highlighting the importance of collective action and technological innovation in addressing disaster risks and climate-related challenges.
Day 1 opened with warm welcome messages and a powerful keynote address from Ms. Cyrill Hope T. Depasucat, Weather Specialist I from PAGASA, who stressed the value of accessible weather data in disaster mitigation. The program featured two highly engaging plenary sessions: “Climate Change 101: Science, Impacts, and Actions” by Mr. Erwin P. Husmalaga of the Climate Change Commission, and “Innovations in Disaster Preparedness and Response” by Ms. Mayfourth Luneta of the Center for Disaster Preparedness. These talks emphasized both the science behind climate change and the growing need for innovative community responses.
The official opening of the DRRM Exhibit followed, unveiling a variety of informative booths, guided exhibit tours, and interactive activities. Participants explored tech-based solutions for early warning systems, emergency response, and sustainable community practices. Notably, student innovators from FEU Tech were given dedicated booths to showcase their projects, further encouraging youth-led contributions to disaster resilience. In a statement from Mr. Raymond Deyera, faculty and organizer from the NSTP department and featured in an interview by SAKSI, he shared, “This is not just an FEU Tech event, but also this event gathers innovators [and] inventors, especially from the youth sectors of technologies and innovations related to disaster risk reduction and management.” The first day concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Edison G. Atanacio, Director of Community Extension Services and NSTP.
Day 2 continued with the DRRM Expo, interactive exhibits, and a series of breakout segments on practical disaster preparedness topics. These included Emergency Go-Bags, Fire Safety at Home, Urban Gardening 101, and a film screening of “Mga Kuwento ng Klima.” Each session aimed to provide participants with tangible knowledge and community-based solutions, reinforcing the need for preparedness at both the household and institutional levels.
The success of iTAMREADY 2025 stands as a testament to the power of youth engagement, innovation, and education in building a disaster-resilient future. With the support of partner institutions and the presence of SAKSI as the official media partner, the exposition showcased how meaningful collaboration between students, educators, and national agencies can lead to sustainable and scalable solutions in disaster risk reduction.
