iTAMREADY 2025: Strengthening Disaster Resilience Through Innovation and Youth Empowerment

The iTAMREADY: Technologies and Innovations for Disaster Resilience Exposition was successfully held on July 9–10, 2025, at the 17th Floor FEU Tech Gymnasium, bringing together students, youth leaders, educators, and DRRM advocates from various schools. Organized by the National Service Training Program (NSTP) of FEU Institute of Technology (FEU Tech), the two-day event aligned with the celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month, highlighting the importance of collective action and technological innovation in addressing disaster risks and climate-related challenges.

Day 1 opened with warm welcome messages and a powerful keynote address from Ms. Cyrill Hope T. Depasucat, Weather Specialist I from PAGASA, who stressed the value of accessible weather data in disaster mitigation. The program featured two highly engaging plenary sessions: “Climate Change 101: Science, Impacts, and Actions” by Mr. Erwin P. Husmalaga of the Climate Change Commission, and “Innovations in Disaster Preparedness and Response” by Ms. Mayfourth Luneta of the Center for Disaster Preparedness. These talks emphasized both the science behind climate change and the growing need for innovative community responses.

The official opening of the DRRM Exhibit followed, unveiling a variety of informative booths, guided exhibit tours, and interactive activities. Participants explored tech-based solutions for early warning systems, emergency response, and sustainable community practices. Notably, student innovators from FEU Tech were given dedicated booths to showcase their projects, further encouraging youth-led contributions to disaster resilience. In a statement from Mr. Raymond Deyera, faculty and organizer from the NSTP department and featured in an interview by SAKSI, he shared, “This is not just an FEU Tech event, but also this event gathers innovators [and] inventors, especially from the youth sectors of technologies and innovations related to disaster risk reduction and management.” The first day concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Edison G. Atanacio, Director of Community Extension Services and NSTP.

Day 2 continued with the DRRM Expo, interactive exhibits, and a series of breakout segments on practical disaster preparedness topics. These included Emergency Go-Bags, Fire Safety at Home, Urban Gardening 101, and a film screening of “Mga Kuwento ng Klima.” Each session aimed to provide participants with tangible knowledge and community-based solutions, reinforcing the need for preparedness at both the household and institutional levels.

The success of iTAMREADY 2025 stands as a testament to the power of youth engagement, innovation, and education in building a disaster-resilient future. With the support of partner institutions and the presence of SAKSI as the official media partner, the exposition showcased how meaningful collaboration between students, educators, and national agencies can lead to sustainable and scalable solutions in disaster risk reduction.

A Culmination of Revival: The Alliance of Information Technology Students (AITS) celebrates Beyond Codeverse as the last general assembly for the current academic year 2024-2025.

It was a glorious July 7, 11am, Monday morning, as IT students and members of AITS gathered at the FEU TECH Student Plaza to celebrate the year of AITS's rise to revival. The venue, decorated in purple, white, and black—the organization's signature colors—was filled with hope and inspiration as the former adviser, Sir Ian Ramirez, and new adviser, Sir Joseph Calleja, gave their speeches to congratulate AITS and welcome the incoming line-up of officers.

Following the heartfelt speech from the former and current advisers, the students began to scatter in a jovial manner as they tried to participate in the icebreaker, where they would have to fill a bingo card to be signed by people that fit the description labeled on the card. With a variety of snacks and sandwiches, AITS provided its members and participating students with lunch to get them ready for the main game of the event, Cosmanji—a game inspired by the well-loved movie Jumanji where players have to roll dice and encounter challenges and solve them with teamwork and critical thinking.

As the event approached a close, the executives and board of directors were awarded for fulfilling their roles in the premier IT organization of FEU Tech and welcomed the new league of officers, recognizing them for their allegiance to the organization. Farah Kenawy, AITS' president for the current academic year, gave her thanks to her fellow officers, the incoming officers, former and current advisers, the IT department, and the junior officers, as she will miss the people who have helped cultivate the organization to where it stands today. With the event wrapping up, the curtain is drawn for the Alliance of Information Technology Students as the incoming lineup prepares to take off in the next academic year.

Explicit from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – San Pedro Campus, emerged as the champion of Create & Conquer 2025 with their project GabAI, a localized financial dashboard designed to help Filipino freelancers and online entrepreneurs manage income, monitor compliance, and transition from survival to growth. The first runner-up position was awarded to Runtime Bandits, a cross-campus team composed of members from National University – Dasmariñas, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, Lyceum of the Philippines University – Cavite, and the University of the Philippines Cebu. Their solution, CrediBee, empowers freelancers and SMEs by offering tools for income tracking, feedback collection, and a unique “CrediScore” to help users access formal financial services. Pawgrammers 411 from STI College Lucena secured the second runner-up spot with Preptalk AI, an interactive coaching platform that uses AI to simulate interviews and provide personalized feedback, helping freelancers and entrepreneurs build communication skills and confidence for global success.

Special awards were also given in recognition of unique strengths displayed by other finalists. Runtime Bandits received the iCorePay Award, while Santa Claude earned the ZenithPads Award. The Felta Multi-Media Award went to Roboteacs, and the Geospectrum Award was presented to Pixiechix. Sabog Ang Script captured the hearts of many as the Fan Favorite, while Crisanchai D. Crisostomo from team Explicit earned the Best Presenter Award. Lastly, the Best Technical Output was awarded to Pawgrammers 411 for their outstanding implementation.

Create & Conquer 2025 was made possible through the support of the following sponsors: Ikigai Animation Studio, iCorePay, ZenithPads, Felta Multi-Media, and Geospectrum. Alongside publicity partners JPCS–FEU Tech, FIT iTamaraws Esports Club, ICpEP.se–PLM Chapter, ICpEP.se–PUP Manila, and media partners The Innovator and TAMbayan TV. As the event wrapped up, it left more than just winners, it sparked a movement. With every idea pitched and problem solved, Create & Conquer 2025 proved that the future belongs to those bold enough to build it. More than a showcase of technical skill, the hackathon became a powerful reminder that with the right guidance, collaboration, and purpose, today’s students can rise as tomorrow’s conquerors; ready to lead the charge in shaping a smarter, more innovative Philippines.

Sashay, Shantay! AC x TEAMS Present the Three-Day 'Drag-A-Rama: Battle of the Queens'

It was all glitter, glam, and good vibes from June 23 to 26, 2025, as Artist Connection (AC) hosted the ‘iTamaraws Drag-A-Rama: Battle of the Queens’. In collaboration with the Tribe of EMC and Multimedia Arts Students (TEAMS), the three-day celebration served as a vibrant platform for promoting diversity, inclusion, and self-expression within the green and gold community in honor of Pride Month.

The event stood as a testament to solidarity within the FEU ADT community, as students, faculty, and guests came together to uplift voices and share inspiring stories from the rainbow community. The campus was transformed into a safe, expressive space where authenticity thrived, companionship blossomed, and Pride was celebrated loudly, joyfully, and without apology.

Early morning of June 23, iTamaraws assembled inside the FEU Tech garage, holding flags representing various identities within the LGBTQIA+ community. At the front of the crowd was Lustavia, a five-year drag queen and proud Drag Den Season 2 contender, paraded on the streets surrounding the campus for the iTamStand: Walk of Unity. From the Tech Building to R. Papa Street, through Morayta and into the Student Plaza, there, participants gathered for a commemorative group photo, officially launching the Drag-A-Rama: Battle of the Queens celebration.

After the walk, students were invited to attend a talk from two esteemed speakers. With AC’s MULAT: Pride in Full View, Social Scientist Mr. Luis Abesamis and Licensed Medical Technologist Dr. Jellica Matahum shed light on their advocacies, bringing depth and urgency to topics of identity and sexual health.

Mr. Abesamis spoke on the challenges and triumphs of living as one’s true self in a society that often discourages visibility. His message emphasized the radical power of living out loud, challenging societal norms with compassion and authenticity. Mid talk, a drag queen from Malabon, Rubia Lavish, snatched the stage with her performance with “I’m Here” from the broadway musical “The Color Purple. ”
Following this performance, Dr. Matahum, FEU Tech's School Physician, grounded the conversation in public health, shedding light on the realities of HIV, breaking down the facts on HIV testing and care while challenging myths and stigma around sexual health.

The event continued last Wednesday, June 25th with TEAMS’ Queeriosity: An LGBTQIA Panel discussion. Much like the talk on the first day, the panel featured two speakers, Sir Billy Malacura, a Cultural Heritage Specialist, shared reflections grounded in his background in museum work, Filipino art history, and community organizing, and Ms. Jela Mae Ventura, a faculty member at FEU Tech, offered insights related to her academic interests in q***r representation, particularly in media and post-production.

𝐏𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧
The grand finale of Drag-A-Rama: Battle of the Queens unfolded on the afternoon of June 26 with Spill the Glam: A Drag-A-Rama Interview, an up-close and personal conversation with three of the local drag scene’s stars: Fewshia, Vinas Deluxe, and Shewarma Rise. Held at FEU Tech’s student plaza, the event kicked off with a jaw-dropping performance by Fewshia as Beyoncé, instantly electrifying the crowd and raising the curtain on a celebration of self-expression, resilience, and q***r artistry
More than just a Q&A, the interview session offered a rare glimpse into the artistry, struggles, and triumphs of drag performers, showing the campus community that behind every beat face and dramatic reveal is a story worth hearing.

Throughout the three-day event, the hallway of the student plaza was filled with booths, offering a diverse array of collectibles and sweets from Elea Sien Merch, Littlethingsmnl, Duckaroo, Angelic Threads, and Heaven Bites.
