Ausome parents are not just a parent — They are also their child's therapist, advocate, interpreter, and safe place all in one 💖

“I may be quiet, but my voice matters.”
A heartfelt poem from the perspective of a child with autism, reminding us that silence doesn't mean absence. Every child has a world within them—let's choose understanding over judgment. 💙
To every parent walking this journey: you are not alone.

Media narratives

Private therapy institutions

Unregulated diagnostic providers

Supplement companies

Education consultancies

Government inaction

Layunin nito?

“Autism Epidemic”
“Autism as Mental Illness”
“National Emergency”

Pribado

Walang price regulation

Walang national accountability system

Walang grievance mechanisms

📌 Presyo ng session: ₱700 – ₱2,500

📌 Therapist credentials: Iba-iba, minsan kahit wala

Hindi lahat ay mapagsamantala—but in the absence of regulation, profit often overrides care.

Pangunahing Problema:

❌ Walang goal-tracking
❌ Walang standardized methods
❌ Walang transparent outcome reporting
❌ LIMTED required post-graduate training o CPD sa autism-specific care

🇵🇭 4. Sa Pilipinas: Kulang ang Tunay na Suporta
May batas. Walang laman.

📜 RA 11650 (Inclusive Education for Learners with Disabilities)

Bagamat promising, ito ay kulang sa:

❌ Implementing guidelines
❌ Budget allocations
❌ Required teacher training
❌ Monitoring tools

Resulta:

🧾 5. Therapy Pricing at Therapist Credentials: Walang Kontrol

Sa kasalukuyan:

❌ Walang licensing board para sa ABA therapists

❌ Walang national competency framework

❌ Kahit sino ay pwedeng magpakilalang “autism expert”

❌ OTs, SLPs, at teachers lack access to autism-specific CPD dahil sa mahal na cost at limitadong options

📌 Walang transparency sa singil

📌 Walang standards for training, ethics, or measurable outcomes

❌ Developmental pediatrician consultations
❌ Home programs
❌ Functional assessments
❌ Long-term therapy needs

Kailangan pa ng:

❌ Updated PWD ID (renewable every 3 years)
❌ Multiple certifications and forms

🧭 8. Mula Pangako Patungong Aksyon: Mga Panukalang Solusyon

✅ 1. Full Implementation ng RA 11650

May malinaw na pondo, roadmap, at monitoring

Inclusive classrooms, trained SPED and general education teachers

✅ 2. Regulation ng Therapy Centers

Standardized at transparent pricing

Required display of therapist credentials

May grievance systems para sa pamilya

✅ 3. National Licensing Board para sa Autism Therapists
Ethical standards

Continuing education requirements

Disciplinary measures para sa negligence o abuso

✅ 4. Mandatory Neurodiversity Training for ALL Teachers

Hindi lang SPED ang dapat may kaalaman

Dapat bahagi ng teacher licensure exam at training

✅ 5. Expanded PhilHealth Coverage

Include diagnostics, therapy, home programs

Alisin ang financial barriers sa access

✅ Pagbuo ng empowered, informed parents—not helpless, anxious ones

🧪 10. The Myth of "Science-Based" Services

Maraming therapy providers ang nagsasabing “evidence-based”—pero:

❌ Luma na ang research
❌ Hindi culturally appropriate
❌ Ginagamit lang bilang marketing tool
❌ Walang third-party verification

“Scientism is used to create market legitimacy—not truth.”
— Broderick (2009)

“Your child is raw material.
We sell ‘improvement.’”
