JUST IN: Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson has resigned as chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee following reported dissatisfaction from several senators over his handling of the investigation into alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
Lacson said he respects the sentiment of his colleagues, noting that committee chairmanships depend on the confidence of the Senate majority.
While preparing his formal resignation when the session resumes, Lacson vowed to continue his fight against corruption.
He also denied accusations that he was protecting certain lawmakers, insisting that he has remained fair throughout the hearings.
