As unconventional as it may seem, this Chapati 🫓 bread pairs well with the Pancit Canton! 😃😋
The Chapati is a traditional ‘unleavened’ flat bread. It is made from whole-wheat flour, water, and oil which originated from India. It is usually paired with dala / lentils soup, hummus, and curries / paneers. Yet most times, we pair it with Filipino favorites like this pancit canton / tortang giniling. And it is really good too!
Today was special because the chapati and pancit did not just fill our stomachs. They served as a tangible metaphor for our obedience to God, deeply connecting us to His Word.
For much like the precise ingredients and process needed to make chapati, an obedient life is built on specific spiritual disciplines.
📜 The Unleavened Heart: Pure and Humble
Leaven acts as a biblical metaphor for sin and pride, inflating dough just as arrogance expands the human ego. In contrast, unleavened chapati remains flat and humble. Approaching God in this "flat" state signifies a heart free from pride—one that honors His ultimate authority rather than self-glory.
📜 The Breaking and Molding: Surrendered Self
God transforms us through the painful but necessary process of obedience. As the potter or baker, He uses the heat of trials to break, mold, and ultimately define our character.
And being unconventional indeed, today’s breakfast called us about “true obedience” to God.
Obedience that is not delayed. It responds to Him the moment He speaks, & is ready to move when He says move.

“Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are.
For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”
