Matcha was the main character of May.

It started with me wanting to have less coffee, which turned into matcha runs, homemade banana matcha lattes, and re-realizing that I have to slow down.

Still love my coffee deeply, but matcha carried me gently this month.

So here’s a matcha dump before the month ends. 🍵

A late night at my desk reading through submissions. 🤸‍♂️

This part of the work is quiet but meaningful. Is it less tiring because I’m at home? Not really. But it’s part of the job. 😅

May reads but make it slow and intentional. 💟

Re-reading Maktub by Paulo Coelho

A reminder that some things are meant to unfold exactly as they are.

No rushing and no pressure to finish quickly. Just reading a few pages at a time before I sleep.

A quiet space, good coffee, and my to-do list waiting to be filled. 😅

Cafe planning and journaling has been my little reset where thoughts slow down prior to doing deep work, plans also soften despite the load, and everything feels a bit more manageable.

Sometimes, you need a change in space to come back to yourself.

PS. You can come back to yourself as many times as you need.

Not as aesthetic as a cafe work table but this is where most of the real work happens — may it be related to teaching or about research.

This simple desk holds the quiet work (literally quiet because I scheduled my lab hours on Saturdays and there aren’t many people around on Saturdays) that builds everything else.

Things may not always be pretty but they are purposeful.

Just posting this photo of me with one of my graduate students.

We’ve been blessed to be accepted for a young scientist research grant which allows her as the mentee to have funding for her master’s thesis as I, the mentor, guide her through managing a research project. It’s technically still her master’s thesis plus the work of having a project. At least that’s how we see things. 😅

This lady’s going to be the princess of parasitic copepods in the country (she gets to be the queen if she decides to pursue her doctorate 😅). Nobody else here does her work, not even me. 🤙🏼

Years of planning, growing, resetting, and starting again all held in the pages of my Passion Planners.

My planners have seen every version of me — from being the overwhelmed student, the dreaming researcher, the imperfect teacher, the still trying content creator, and soft girl learning to slow down and do things gently.

It’s never been about perfect plans. It’s always been about showing up, writing things down, and choosing to keep going.

If you’ve been thinking of starting a planner, this is your sign.

Some days call for a quiet indulgence which can include a slice of something rich, a sip of something warm (as for me, something cool), and nowhere else to be.

This is your reminder that rest can look like this too:
slow bites, soft conversations, and a little sweetness in between everything you’re building.

Some weeks, I plan everything.
Some days, I just write a to-do list.

Both count. Both move me forward.

Productivity doesn’t have to look the same everyday. Sometimes, it’s high energy planning, and sometimes, it’s simply showing up and checking one thing off at a time.

Faculty desk lately: a little chaotic, some coziness, but still somehow getting things done.

Between lectures, papers, and quick matcha breaks, this space (along with all my spaces) holds so much of my day.

(PS. I try to keep it organized. This was just a messy moment. 🤣)
