MGA HIYAS NG SINENG FILIPINO SA DECEMBER 7!

Inihahandog ng Tanghalang Metropolitan, sa pagtutulungan ng National Commission for Culture and the Arts at Film Development Council of the Philippines kasama ang Reality Entertainment ang ‘Seklusyon’ (2016) sa direksyon ni Erik Matti.

Ang pelikulang Seklusyon ay itinakda noong taong 1947 kung saan ang apat na seminarista na sina Miguel, Fabian, Marco, at Hans ay binigyan ng apat na araw bago ang ordinasyon kung saan sila ay isinailalim sa isang seklusyon, isang tradisyunal na ritwal kung saan mananatili sila sa isang liblib na kumbento upang subukin ang kanilang pananampalataya at katapatan sa Diyos. Sa kanilang pananatili, dumating si Sister Cecilia kasama ang isang batang babae na si Anghela Sta. Ana na sinasabing may kakayahang gumawa ng himala. Dahil sa kanyang kabaitan at tila banal na katauhan, napaniwala ang karamihan na siya ay isang biyaya ng langit. Ngunit, unti-unti nilang natuklasan ang madilim na katotohanan na ang mga himala ni Cecilia ay hindi galing sa Diyos at nalantad ang mga kasalanan at kahinaan ng mga seminarista.

Ano ang kahihinatnan ng istorya? Ano ang mga aral na mapupulot sa pelikula? Tara at manood tayo sa Metropolitan Theater sa darating na Disyembre 7, 2025 sa ganap na ika-2 ng hapon.

On 28 November 1980, Ishmael Bernal’s Manila by Night produced by Regal Films opened in theaters nationwide after a brush with the censors’ body that ordered its title to be changed to City after Dark. Its integral version was fortunately preserved and had circulated through the years for certain showcases from time to time including those for prestigious international film festivals. A restored edition courtesy of the Film Development Council of the Philippines with the Philippine Film Archive is shown anew at UPFI Film Center on the same day of its big-screen release exactly 45 years ago to best lend credence to the masterpiece that it is and hail it as the quintessential classic that serves as the National Artist’s own ode to the country’s capital city of everyone’s affections. Venue is Cine Adarna. Admission is free.
