In the aftermath of Typhoon Opong, which left behind scattered debris, fallen branches, and heavy litter along roads and coastal areas, Barangay B. Del Mundo swiftly mobilized an intensified clean-up drive from September 28 to October 4, 2025.
This week-long effort showcased the unwavering bayanihan spirit of the community as barangay officials, BHWs, BPSOs, youth organizations, and volunteers worked hand in hand to restore cleanliness and order in the affected sitios.
On September 28, clean-up operations were conducted along the highways of Sitio Langawin, Landing 1, and Landing 2, where 19 BHWs and 2 BPSOs collected 21 big sacks of waste weighing 250 kilos.
The following day, September 29, BHWs and BPSOs continued their efforts in Centro, Proper, and Balanga highways, gathering 15 sacks of waste weighing 200 kilos.
On the same day, 20 volunteers, led by Hon. Ma-an Lomio, worked in Sitio Balanga 1, collecting an impressive 75 sacks of waste weighing 1,800 kilos.
On September 30, the clean-up resumed in Proper and Balanga highways, where 19 BHWs and 2 BPSOs collected 18 sacks weighing 180 kilos.
By October 1, the effort expanded as Hon. Ma-an Lomio led 10 AKRHO and 20 Triskelion members in Sitio Balanga 1, resulting in 55 sacks weighing 2,000 kilos.
Simultaneously, Hon. Gilbert Esteban headed a team of 5 4Ps beneficiaries and 5 volunteers who cleaned Sitio Laiya and Proper, gathering 3 sacks weighing 75 kilos.
On October 3, 12 BHWs focused their efforts around Don B. Del Mundo Elementary School in Sitio Laiya, collecting 20 sacks of waste weighing 350 kilos.
Meanwhile, Hon. Edzel Masangcay led 11 volunteers in Sitio Parang and Barubo, gathering 3 sacks weighing 75 kilos, while Hon. Allan Algaba supervised a clean-up in Sitio Balanga 2 with 7 volunteers and 1 BPSO, collecting 10 sacks weighing 150 kilos.
By October 4, simultaneous clean-up drives were held across multiple sitios. 12 BHWs gathered 9 sacks weighing 190 kilos in Sitio Laiya and Centro, while Hon. Gilbert Esteban, together with 5 4Ps beneficiaries and 5 volunteers, cleaned Sitio Laiya and Proper, collecting 3 sacks weighing 75 kilos.
Hon. Edzel Masangcay and Hon. John Ver De Roxas (SK Chairman) led 16 youth volunteers in Sitio Parang and Landing 1, collecting 10 sacks weighing 200 kilos.
At the same time, Hon. Henie Palomar supervised volunteers in Sitio Sinampad and Sitio Malapgap, producing 5 sacks weighing 100 kilos, while Hon. Glen Rogel Villanueva and Mr. Fedmar Baliguat of Citizens Monitoring Group, Inc. (CMGI) led 15 members in cleaning Sitio Landing 1, gathering 10 sacks weighing 150 kilos.
Lastly, in Sitio Centro, 4 volunteers under the supervision of Hon. Melven Maning collected 5 sacks weighing 100 kilos.
In total, from September 28 to October 4, 2025, 22 clean-up sites were covered, with the participation of more than 180 individuals including BHWs, BPSOs, youth organizations, 4Ps beneficiaries, civic groups, and community volunteers.
Altogether, the intensified operations resulted in 242 big sacks of waste weighing approximately 5,850 kilos, marking one of the most extensive clean-up efforts of the year.
The Barangay Council of B. Del Mundo, under the leadership of Punong Barangay, Hon. Armando G. Samarita, sincerely commends all participating officials, organizations, and volunteers for their dedication and unity in restoring the beauty and order of the barangay after Typhoon Opong.
These collective efforts truly embody the spirit of โKalinisan at Bayanihan,โ driving forward the shared goal of a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Barangay B. Del Mundo.
