Persevering and enduring have been a part of my journey with Jesus, and I know that the same goes for you. Sometimes, we can be caught up with the thought that we are doing it all on our own, whether intentionally or not. We sometimes feel like our success as a Christian merits our favor from God, sometimes the failures cause us to feel undeserving as if we earn God’s grace (it is freely given through Jesus).

I pray that we will be reminded to lean on His grace as we persevere in our faith.

“for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” (Philippians 2:13)

As we persevere, our focus should be on Christ and on His work on the cross. Looking at our performance will cause disappointment and shame because we will never be able to perfect it– not until our sanctification is done. So we look to Christ and see His perfect work on the cross. It is His grace that saves us, it will be His grace that will keep us.
