I went from BEGGING for jobs to having clients slide into my DMs.

Six years of freelancing taught me this:

I didn’t plan to become a creative entrepreneur.
IT WAS A SURVIVAL MODE.

First year of college. No backup plan. No fancy tools.
Just Photoshop and an internet connection.

Fast forward six years, and here’s what I wish someone had told me at the start:
✅ Your designs don’t need to be perfect; they need to solve problems.
✅ Clients care about results, not your job title.
✅ Show up consistently even when it feels impossible.

For all the entrepreneurs out there:
Investing in design isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about creating something that speaks for you when you’re not in the room.

Your brand deserves more than “GOOD ENOUGH.”

“I didn’t think I was good enough. Turns out, no one else cared.”

When I started in campus journalism, I wasn’t the most experienced or the most talented.

The other mentors came from Manila Bulletin, Rappler, GMA News.

And me?

I kept wondering why I was in the same room.

I let imposter syndrome take over—until I realized something:
→ Nobody cared about my doubts.
→ What they cared about was the value I could bring.

Once I focused on showing up and delivering results, everything changed.

Fast forward:
That chapter closed, and I moved into freelancing.

And guess what?

The doubts came back.

Now I’m surrounded by some of the top Filipino freelancers and virtual assistants.

On January 19, from 8 AM to 8 PM, I’ll be at Mother’s Wonderland, Tayabas, Quezon, speaking at Freelancers Wonderland.

Here’s the truth I’ve learned along the way:
→ No one’s waiting for you to feel ready.
→ Your value isn’t in how perfect you are.
→ It’s in how consistent you show up.
→ The only thing standing in your way is you.

If you’re an aspiring freelancer, wondering if you belong in this industry. Trust me, you do.

So we had our shoot yesterday for our November and December campaign… and let’s just say, it’s our BOLDEST yet.

Coconut VAs got real!
Sharing the gritty ‘petsa de peligro’ days, the hustle, the tears, and those breakthrough moments they now call success.

It’s raw.
It’s vulnerable.
It’s the kind of stuff that makes you rethink everything you know about making it in this industry.

There were laughs, some tears, and a whole lot of inspiration.

But don’t just take our word for it… you’re not going to want to miss this.

Traveling is overrated.

Wait, hear me out!
I’ve traveled a lot, and I used to think it was just a temporary escape.
But here’s what I’ve realized ↓

1. It’s essential for achieving a life-work balance.
2. It’s not just about ticking destinations off a list, but finding joy in everyday experiences.
3. Meeting local and foreign freelancers/digital nomads in Siargao opened my eyes to the fact that life isn’t just about money, it’s about the joy you create.

Siargao, you’re one for the books! The island’s magic is real, and saying goodbye feels bittersweet. 😅

This journey has taught me that life is short and meant to be filled with joy.
Traveling is never a luxury.
For me, it’s a necessity to live.

It is never a temporary escape.

Hindi ko in-expect na possible pala siya ↓

Bilang freelance graphic designer for 6 years, na-realize ko ang daming opportunities ahead of me.

Never in my life na aakalain kong posibleng makapag-travel ako to places.

Naaalala ko pa, hindi ako nakakasama sa mga school field trips noon kasi wala kaming budget.
I know.
Tanggap ko na eversince na —
walang plus points sa report card ko kasi hindi ko afford sumama😅.

Ganito ako mula elementary hanggang high school.

Pero imbes na mainggit, nag-focus ako sa pag-improve ng skills ko.

Alam ko kasing may chance akong makapag-travel nang libre, basta mananalo ako sa mga contests.

Para ka na ring nag-field trip😂!

‘Yan ang naging motivation ko para galingan. Bukod sa free training mula sa mga magagaling na professionals, nakakagala pa ako nang libre!

Little did I know, hindi lang pala free trips ang makukuha ko dahil sa contests. 😱

Fast forward, nandito na ako ngayon sa isa sa mga dream destinations ko—Palawan!

Hindi ko inakala na ‘yung mga bagay na akala ko wala lang noon, ‘yun pala ang nag-prepare sa akin para sa mas maganda pang bagay.

At ngayon, gusto kong i-share ‘yung mga natutuhan ko sa graphic design journey ko under the Bloggmary Group.

I thought Photoshop was just a game.

I remember watching someone on their computer, thinking they were playing a "game" called Photoshop🤔 Funny, right?

When my sister handed me a 4th-hand laptop—yes, I’m the fourth person to own it—the first thing I did was install Photoshop.

That’s when I realized it wasn’t a game—it was a tool for editing photos.

I got really into it and started joining competitions. Here’s what I learned:

→ winning isn’t just about the prize—the real win is learning from experts 🏆
→ every competition made me better

When the pandemic hit, my Photoshop skills became my way to make a living. Now, I’m enjoying life by:

→ Traveling to new places ✈️
→ Supporting my family ❤️
→ Balancing work with relaxation

Now, it is time to share what I’ve learned.
