VIVA! PIT SENYOR!

Today we celebrate the feast of Señor Sto. Niño, the Holy Child Jesus, the oldest and most beloved Christian image in the Philippines. The Sto. Niño reminds us of God’s humble love shown in the innocence and simplicity of a child.

This devotion began in 1521 when the image was given to Queen Juana by Ferdinand Magellan, marking the beginning of Christianity in our country. Since then, Filipinos have honored the Sto. Niño as a symbol of hope, trust, and God’s abiding presence in our lives.

As we celebrate, we are called to renew our childlike faith, to trust in God completely, and to live with humility, joy, and obedience to His will. The Sto. Niño teaches us that true greatness is found in love and simplicity.

1. Hindi ka late. Hindi ka rin early. Nasa tamang oras ka.
Iba-iba ang timeline ng tao. May yumaman ng 25, may umayos ang buhay ng 40. Ang mahalaga, umaandar ka pa rin.

2. Health is wealth seryoso na to.
Hindi na pwede ang “bukas na lang.”
• Matulog ng maayos
• Kumain ng tama
• Mag-exercise kahit walking lang
Kung bumigay ang katawan, pati pangarap titigil.

3. Piliin mo ang peace over pride.
Hindi lahat ng laban kailangang patulan.
Minsan ang tunay na panalo ay katahimikan ng isip.

4. Hindi mo kailangang patunayan ang sarili mo sa lahat.
Enough na yung alam mo kung sino ka at ano ang kaya mo.
Validation from others is optional. Self-respect is not.

5. Ayusin mo ang pera, hindi para yumabang kundi para may choice ka.
Mag-ipon. Mag-invest kung kaya.
Hindi para mag-flex, kundi para hindi ka gipit sa desisyon.

6. Kaibigan: quality over quantity.
Mas okay ang 2–3 totoong kaibigan
kesa 100 na hanggang “kumusta” lang.

7. Kung may pamilya ka, be present. Kung wala pa, ihanda mo ang sarili mo.
Ang oras na binibigay mo sa mahal mo,
yun ang hindi mo na mababawi.

8. Huwag mong ikumpara ang behind-the-scenes mo sa highlight ng iba.
Social media is filtered.
Ang buhay mo, real.

9. Pray or reflect.
Kahit hindi ka religious, kailangan ng tahimik na sandali
para alalahanin kung saan ka papunta.

10. Hindi pa tapos ang kwento mo.
35 is not the ending.
Madalas dito pa lang nagsisimula ang pinaka-solid na version ng lalaki.

This year was not easy. There were days I felt strong, and days I barely held on. Moments of progress, and moments of waiting. Wins I prayed for, and prayers that stayed unanswered.

But I’m still here. All because God carried me through every single day.

So as this year ends, I say this with a thankful heart:
