𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗕𝗜𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟 "𝗙𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥" 𝗢𝗙 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗦! 🌱

On this day in 1822, Gregor Johann Mendel was born in what is now the Czech Republic. He is best known for being the Father of Genetics.

After university studies, Johann Mendel entered the Augustinian Order, taking as his new “name in religion” Gregor. An Augustinian friar with a passion for science, Mendel transformed biology through thousands of pea plant experiments conducted between 1856 and 1863.

By carefully studying around 28,000 plants, he uncovered the hidden rules of inheritance, showing how traits are passed from parents to offspring. These discoveries became the 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, forming the foundation of modern genetics.

Ironically, his groundbreaking research received little attention during his lifetime. It was only in 1900, 16 years after his death, that other scientists recognized the significance of his work.

Today, Mendel is celebrated worldwide as the Father of Genetics, whose discoveries continue to shape medicine, agriculture, and our understanding of life itself.
